Regina George 59,387
Okay so I’ll be objective and say that this years VMAs were not as bad as 2014-15-16-17 ones.. Why? Well we have amazing technology and stage was literally beautiful with all kinds of effects (rain, “holograms”, lightening, stage props, etc).. We had some really really great female performances. Nicki did amazing (I know, I know.. she hasn’t been the nicest person on Earth but she really did good). Ariana slayed with beautiful stage, voice and choreography celebrating womanhood and femininity. JLO literally surprised us all with her amazing performance including all of her hits and her dancing/singing/crowd interaction was AMAZING. We also had some great male performances. Shawn did nothing new or amazijg but his performance overall was pretty good. Brendon Urie literally owned the stage with his energy. And now I’m being realistic.. Even Travis had great performance. I know his music is basic and we are not fans of his behavior but his performance was really not bad at all. Maluma was also great. We also had some entertaining shade moments that made us laugh with Cardi, Travis and Nicki. Also we had some good 5Harmony shade at the beginning. Even tho her speech was not great, Madonna brought a dose of nostalgic feel to VMAs and I appreciate it. So overall I’ll rate this years VMAs with: C+ What do you think? And please be objective. Thomas P 18,479
I think it got good after Ariana. I also really did like Shawn and jlo, and I liked nickis until Barbie dreams was done. I’m a simple guy to please, if you like Melodrama, we chill.
TheAlpha 3,830
It was slightly better than last year for sure. You know this is just my opinion, right?
Sky del Blue 2,975
Being objective: this years vmas were the worst ever, they really should cancel the show cause it's just embarrasing at this point There was literally no star power except for Madonna and JLo. Previous years they at least got Beyonce, Rihanna, Pink, Katy, Gaga. Also the stage was miserable in my opinion, it was very small, they made it look nice because of technology and effects, but if you stripped down all of those things it would be bad. The ratings will bomb for sure
StreamDelicate 296
Ari, Brendon, and JLO were good. The rest.....

hELXIG 43,004
Wow thanks for actually showing that people can still be positive I enjoyed the same parts you did. People should be less love/hate and realise there's a middle ground of just meh. And meh is okay too. A lot of these newer artists might not have all the power and talent of past performers, but they're still young people just trying to get up in front of millions to sing and dance. It's not really their fault the industry is letting them down these days with lack of training and funding and general effort. I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin. James Gibson 3,489
I found it to be terribly directed and planned. Art directors, lightning designers and special effects artists did great, deserve an emmy for it. But directors, sound mixers, editors, camera-people should get fired asap Even though VMAs have been even more disappointing every single year since the amazing 2013 (which doesn't match the glorious 2011) but I should note: 2014 had many famous performers and attendees, but somehow lackluster 2015 was messy and all over the place but really entertaining. 2016 had big names like Bey, Rihanna and Britney but it seemed empty (rihanna had four performances to fill) and this thing of "if you go you'll win it" started to really show of because people who weren't directed involved in winning or performing just didn't bother to go. The show was not appealing anymore. People didn't seem to want to be there 2017 was too crowded, too many useless performances but some interesting names in it. Katy however blew off in the monologue 2018 lacked EVERYTHING. There was 2 A-list stars, and there seemed to be no celebrities at all. Some people went multiple times to the stage for no reason and there seemed to be no staging rehearsal (except from JLO). I mean, why did Shawn Mendes give her the Vanguard? He doesn't knew her and it only showed the mess behind him with people running to set things up (besides the terrible sound). How many times did DJ Khaled appeared to scream "AND ANOTHER ONE"? Why did Cardi B accepted her award on the floor when she was going rightfully to the stage? Avicii who passed away in a tragic death a few months ago gets no mention besides Rita Ora who interrupted her presenting to remember him, just should have presented the award he won on stage and Rita would have said something about it. You had Lenny Krevitz just to introduce the last performance? Give him some award to present! And I was excited for Madonna but she blew everything with her biography (which is a great story) during Aretha's tribute. Must mostly, NO ICONIC MOMENT. NONE WILL BE REMEMBERED. Only JLO's performance was truly good but still too safe. that is really sad. No wonder they teased Gaga's, Bruno's, Kelly Clarkson's etc image on the internet. THERE WERE NO SUPERSTARS IN IT. Ariana Grande and Camila Cabello were the biggest pop girls in there. That tells something. MTV decides to snub Taylor Swift to do this, besides the awful winners but that was already expected, anyway.
Tyler1992 2,264
The stage technology this year was really cool with the performances I did see. The VMAs benefit from having smaller venues like Radio City Music Hall, rather than a place like Barclays Center or MSG; it keeps the show intimate and makes it easier to focus on the celebrities in attendance.
