OKAY SO

I took the placements of each song from every round and made up a new score thingy. The score is based on the sum of the inverses of the positions that they took in each round; e.g., HML won Round 1, which had 17 songs, so it receives 17 points. The max possible score is 136 (17 + 16 + 15 + ... + 3).

I work in accounting so I love the analysis they do too! 

 

I find in’s it interesting that Judas is so low from @calmars post above and yet it made it so far. Conversely for Born This Way. 

 

Also so not trying to be political but it’s kind of ironic that MTN won and yet by the metrics TEOG performed better. It reminds me of the electoral college.

The ARTPOP results were messier. MTN was at least close to TEOG in this type of analysis. MJH.... not so much

Well if you do the math... 

For a song to coast along to the finals while being 'safe', it must have a minimum of 4 points by the metric I introduced above (so, not in the bottom 3) up until Round 10; Rounds 11 and 12 it must have 3 points (to not be in the bottom 2); in Round 13 it must have 2 points (since there is no more safe, it must be 'bottom' but not eliminated). Round 14 here is the finals so we're not counting it.

Thus to make it to the final 3, the minimum possible score is 4(10)+3(2)+2 = 48.

@calmar I read all of your calculations. Thanks for the time to calculate everything. I love Math as well. It's my favorite subject, and I achieved the highest grades in Math during high school.
