Dan Reynolds of Imagine Dragons did "Whatever it Takes" to make his LOVELOUD Festival over the weekend a success.

The event, held Saturday night at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City, UT, reached its goal of raising $1 million for LGBTQ+ organizations, including the Trevor Project.  Among the artists on the lineup: Imagine Dragons, Zedd, Linkin Park's Mark Shinoda, Neon Trees' Tyler Glenn, Grace Vanderwaal and more.

Also participating as speakers or performers were Apple CEO Tim Cook, Jussie Smollet, Julianne Hough, Tegan Quin of Tegan and Sara and Mary Lambert.

This was the second year Reynolds hosted the LOVELOUD Festival, to support LGBTQ+ youth and encourage acceptance. The festival, and Reynolds' mission, were documented in the film Believer, which premiered on HBO in June.

Ugh dad he makes good music and he’s such a good person. I’m so happy seeing a successful/famous straight man put in actual effort and dedication to helping the gays instead of just saying “I don’t see gender I could love anyone <3” and posting shirtless pics.

Can’t wait for him to come out as pansexual too :staymad: (jk. it’d even be nice to have a legitimate straight male ally for once)

He's one of the very few straight male artists who's not afraid to voice his support for the LGBT community.

I mean can you imagine Drake or The Weeknd doing that?

This. Most straight men are afraid that they'll lose their masculinity of they spoke up for such issues, it's sad. I'm really glad to see that he is openly supporting LGBT rights

Dan is such an amazing human being :flutter: I love him so much

When he gave an speech at concert (also it was my bday) about mental illness he made me cry the shït out of me, he recommended everyone to talk to a therapist and that encouraged myself to finally go to one

... and now i just sit in silence.

Seriously though, he's such a great ally to the LGBT community. Love watching/reading his interviews.

From a recent interview: "I’m about as privileged as you can get. I’m a white, male, heterosexual front man of a rock band. So the weight I feel every day is, ‘What are you doing with that?’"
