Before I begin, the comments above are accurate

But to answer, it’s hard to “cancel” an artist as huge as he was with as much cultural impact as him. Yeah, he would lose some fans, but it wouldn’t affect his career. Those fans would probably still buy his music and be closeted fans.

It’s easy to cancel 6ix9ine who’s career was barely started from a trash viral song, or Harvey Weinstein who remained pretty much under the tabloid radar, or R. Kelly who always had a controversy under his belt (no pun intended). But Michael was a pop superstar who couldn’t avoid the spotlight. You can’t just banish him from media like that.

Yes ofc. Locals love to destroy what they uplift, now more than ever, on initial reactions alone. I don’t think he’d be that relevant anymore. This Is It was set up to fail bc he had a lung and spine problem thanks to this drug addiction to a heroine like substance he got at some Botox like place and a set accident he had in the early 2000s, so it just would have been another huge controversy for him bc I doubt he’d be able to finish it. His debt forced him tho

I do think he would of got a much greater backlash if he was accused today and rightfully so, I’m one of the people that is sceptical about how innocent he really was. In a post #metoo world we’re all too familiar with how people abuse their power and I don’t think it’s that outrageous to think MJ did too. Plus, there was just so much that he did that people have already mentioned that was very sucpicious - if you had a **** childhood you see a therapist, you don’t solicit sleepovers with random kids or strike up friendships with teenagers, even if you were the biggest MJ fan around that is questionable no matter what.

Lol do you even remember how it was? He was completely cancelled.

Ofc no one is cancelled when its last album sells more than 30 million copies and has five number ones in just one record.

Also he still makes bops and lets not forget some people dont care about controversy

You are only cancelled if companies stop sponsoring you. Now that is a dead end.

Complicated. Cos he already got backlash even then. But his fans are very loyal, his concerts for supporting HIStory album were very successful. The media was taking him as enemy tho during these times. He wa sonly getting bad press since. After that, he was only participating in charities concerts. Hiatus for a long time from recording album until 2001 for his final album, Invincible

I mean we #cancel anything nowadays, even for just democratically expressing an opinion.

I myself won't ever cancel no one until they are convicted, I still believe in "Innocent until proven gulty"...

Seeing as it’s still talked about, yeah. Although even besides that one case, most others are also believed to be fabricated to extort him for money so I find it kind of shitty to talk about. I’ll take the word of Corey Feldman who hasn’t been brutally scorned for being outspoken against Hollywood pedos. He essentially said that Hollywood’s full of them but that MJ was the last person who would be. Did he cross the line into inappropriate action? A bit, but I really don’t think he ever was once a pedophile. He’s so far from the psychological profile of one (and especially a Hollywood one).

I don’t think even ardent fans say that that’s ok behavior; they just dont think he was a pedophile. Is that inappropriate? Undoubtedly, but to conflate inappropriate behavior with full on pedophilia is dangerous and would be legally negligent.

I think there was more of a tendency to let this stuff slide back in the day before the internet was around and even when it was, before video sharing sites and social media came about. It meant you had to let the media inform your opinion based on what they let you see. And as there was so visual representation of anything and it was just a war of my word vs. yours, what more could you say? It would all be handled very differently today and there would be more of a "trial by social media." Cancelling culture is quick and instant and while male artists can reverse it...there's pretty much no room for child molesters on the second chance list, proven or otherwise.

I'm with you on that. Lots of people have messed up childhoods but they don't do stuff like this. It shouldn't always be the immediate excuse. I don't know if I truly believe that he had it in him but I've always endured a strong need to have that element of doubt whenever anyone's accused of anything. Because you just never know what people are capable of. Just because it wasn't proven doesn't mean it didn't happen. If we don't know for sure, then we shouldn't lock people up but...it irks you never knowing for sure. I'm really glad I'm not a judge or part of a jury when there's elements of doubt. I've seen too many movies where the lawyer wins the case for the accused and they're so happy that they caused justice to be served...and then their client whispers into their ear afterwards that they did it and thanks them for helping them get away with their crime. It's the stuff of nightmares no one likes to believe exists but its gotta be more common than we think.

Not really.

An example from my country is Gloria Trevi :emma: she was involved in a huge kidnapping/prostitution case in the late 90s and she worked hard to be famous again :huntyga: she came back hard and is still standing. Of course, there’s a lot of people who hate her to death.

Honestly after reading a lot on this site https://www.mjfacts.com/ I don't think he's as innocent as his fans and even the general public make him out to be. I can see why though, such a big icon in pop music and an advocate for a ton of good things. But honestly sleeping with young children in the same room or even the same bed as a grown man is an extremely questionable behaviour. And while they didnt find straight up child p*rn in his home they still found things that are on the borderline to being that. And why do you have to pay someone HUGE settlements of 8 figures if nothing ever happened? Idk while we'll never know the truth I think he was either really f*cked up from his childhood and genuinely didn't think this was a strange thing to do or he was guilty but knew how to mask it.

MJFacts is a site written by an MJ hater to drag Michael and his fans to the pits of Hell. None of the stuff on that site is actually true lol. They're all regurgitated from tabloid articles written about Michael's supposed guilt.

Everybody who has doubts about Michael's innocence should take out a half-hour out of their day to watch this:
