Would The Fame be commercially successful now?

I'm actually very curious. Let's imagine that Gaga is exactly as successful as she is now: same trendiness, same streaming numbers, same charting positions, just never having released The Fame (let's say she put out a different album that launched her debut). If LG6 was to be The Fame, would it be commercially successful?

The reason I ask is because The Fame is perfectly crafted GP retro-pop and the music as well as the visuals were just so cool and hip at the time. I personally can't see how if she The Fame debuted now, it would flop. However, given the current music climate, there is a lot of room for doubt. Thoughts?

No, because the dominating sound right now is rap/R&B/hip-hop

I think it would do as well as pop can do right now. Songs like The Middle, Girls Like You, No Tears Left to Cry, etc. are doing Top 5 and no more. Biggest exception this year was Havana, and that barely got the top spot before God's Plan dropped.

I think all the singles would still be Top 10, but I don't know if Just Dance and Poker Face would hit #1 right now.

LoveGame would probably do better than it did in 2009 tho

Yes because it's fresh and different and I think it would be even more trendy today like I can see girls trying to copy Gaga looks

It would do as well as Kim Petra's and Charli XCX are right now

ok but like The Fame had much better visuals, way cooler outfits, incredible performances, insane concepts. I don't think Kim or Charli are even close to being as interesting... or as good lol

Smother Em Eh

I wanna say yes cause it had awesome singles, served bops, visuals and outfits, but I feel like due to it probably sounding very outdated it wouldn’t.

Dance music wasn't dominating when "Just Dance" first hit. Contemporary R&B was the popular genre. It was all TI/Beyonce/Chris Brown/etc. It isn't that different today, except its more hip hop than R&B. If LG was a new artist and came with The Fame today, she would have been big.

The Fame would've sounded as dated as it sounds right now (minus the singles), so yeah no, a flop.

One of the reasons of its success is because electronic production was new to radio at that moment.

Yes + No

No: because the music sounds dated and it’s tough for pop music to survive in an era of trap, hip-hop, and R&B music.

Yes: if Gaga followed the same method as she did with The Fame. Then it would be 2008-2009 all over again, just on a greater level.

The Fame was the oil that lubricate the gears in pop music in the late 2000s, and then everyone trying to do what she does, and it became super over saturated quickly, so naturally it is dying slowly by the mid 2010s and today, that  kind of sounds are dated.

If Gaga weren't making that album then that would generate the motor, then the music biz would be dominated by other genres, and if she release The Fame now, it can always explode just like the way it did. Because when any genres are so over saturated, people will always welcome new sounds to take a break from the current ones.
