Lol this is his "The Cure" moment indeed :sis: At least TC was the catchy type of basic. This is the boring kind

Mirages

I don't even get why anyone would want to put out this song, it's that terrible.

I'm the bitch that's fragile

It looks like dropping a standalone pop single after a country album is the thing now :ladyhaha: and some say Gaga doesn't make trends anymore :huntyga:

What if tomorrow I see you again? Should I say that I used to love you?

I must say that I do not care for it. If he is gonna use money to promote, etc, I wish he would have done so for the best song on MOTW: “Montana”.

His album's only been out for 5 months and already he's going down this route. He must be desperate. At least when Gaga does it, she releases it as part of a live performance and sometimes she debuts new music that appears on a later album and The Cure was about Sonja, there was meaning behind what many thought was just another generic song made for the charts. But Soulmate...this is just releasing a song for no reason, clearly made with no love behind it, just to get a chart hit to make up for a poorly performing album whose risk didn't pay off. He even says "it's summer" at the beginning of the song. You gotta hate it when they're that obvious with their intentions. This reminds me of when Maroon 5 tried to get another huge hit after Sugar by releasing the standalone single, This Summer's Gonna Hurt. It was such an embarrassing flop. I think the public can just plainly see when an artist is fishing too desperately for a hit. Even Justin Bieber, who was in the peak of his career when he released the standalone single, Friends, last year with Bloodpop, didn't get a huge hit out of it and it was embarrassingly forgotten.

I'm guessing standalone.  It's way too soon for a full new album.

First he copied LG by doing a countryish album, then he copied her by doing the Superbowl, now he copied her by dropping a random single?

It's better than most of Man of the Woods. I actually like it.

As though literally any artist (except Adele) would ever turn down the chance to do the Super Bowl under any circumstances.  Lol.

Why do you sound so pressed omg. And why compare it to Gaga when she dropped that song to give a gift to her fans at Coachella, that's it lmao, at least she had an excuse to come off as desperate.

Maybe Justin just dropped a song as a gift to his fans -- who, like us, want to hear their artist on the radio.

Or, in TS's case -- standalone country song (Babe) after pop album (Reputation).

I was into with the cover and first 20 sec

But first resction was: lyrics are awful

Second: his bland voice is all kinds of wrong, even his falsetto isnt sounding good. I kept wishing other person could sing it.

Third: 😯 its so flat. Like people keep on relying on effects cute ideas but musicality is what makes good composition. Cmon some dynamics, this is so lifeless.

First make good song. Then think how to make it sound. This was like a synthetic studio copy of whats modern. An interesting take in some parts but a really bad song
