Companies and artists have realized that streaming is the most important path to market yourself and your music. Social media + streams equals your power and relevancy on the industry so focusing on making people buy CDs sounds almost obsolete for this era in music. The newer generations are NOT interested in buying music when they have it all on stream services, and labels know that. To sum it up, trying to keep up with CDs production and sales is a waste of time and money. CDs will be a collectors item just like vinyls are now. Best Buy is not the only retailer that carries CDs There's Walmart, Target, FYE, and local indie record stores.
