In short, probably not. But the US has always acted like it does and has acted holier-than-thou for which this criticism is coming.

This is about US doing bad things which should be criticized regardless of whether other countries do it too. We can't use other atrocities to defend the ones in the US. And if you're wondering why only the US is being questioned, no, it's not. All countries are being and it would be helpful if we could have this discussion about every country individually including the US without people going, "But what about other countries?"

I agree - however, I just feel as though this holier-than-thou attitude is in the vein of many developed countries. The US has many flaws, I live here and fully know that we are not perfect.

I see many people say “this and that” only happens in the US - Americans are dumb - etc etc. you can see how it can be annoying. Nationalism in being proud of where you are from can be good but moreso divides us. I just don’t like the divide 

But I don’t think this is a good look for the US and I hope we can turn this around.

Yes, I do see how that's annoying. I live in the US (as a university student), I am not an American, and there are numerous reasons why I love America and choose to live here right now.

That being said, there are many problems that are uniquely American and baffle the rest of us--we feel frustrated about them and therefore say these things - gun control and the rejection of human rights as being universally a good thing are both American problems.

Nationalism is fine as long as the attitude is, "I love this country and therefore I care to recognize and admit its flaws because there are so many people who say their lives are not great and we should do something about it."
