Erotica 34,925
The European Court of Justice has ruled that all EU countries must recognise the rights of same sex spouses and respect the residency rights even if same sex marriages aren't legal in them. The ruling came after American Claibourn Hamilton was denied residency in Romania, where his husband Adrian Coman is from. Romania is one of six EU member states – along with Poland, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Lithuania and Latvia – that do not legally recognise same-sex relationships. However, the ECJ ruled that while EU countries retain “the freedom whether or not to authorise marriage between persons of the same sex, they may not obstruct the freedom of residence of an EU citizen by refusing to grant his same-sex spouse, a national of a country that is not an EU member state, a derived right of residence in their territory”. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/jun/05/eu-countries-recognise-rights-gay-spouses-european-court-of-justice-ecj Poor is the man whose pleasures depend on the permission of another

If they want to leave then can leave. EU is sooo slow and there are other countries who are DYING to get in and do whatever it takes (like Albania and Macedonia). Yes they may have big homophobic population but their governments are ready to legalize sex marriage and change things. Reforms need to be made and EU countries are not agreeing. This is not letting us advance while other countries are becoming superpowers

LGMonster95 13,704
It'll be very hard for Romania to accept something pro-LGBT, there are some people here who supports them but it'll be very hard because this country is very obsessed with religion and the church wont allow anything pro-LGBT to happen. People from here are very close-minded to subjects like this....

Because there are several countries that do not want this, full of well-known homophobic antecedents. Forcing them to recognise gay rights will not help. In EU married people have this right, no matter who you're married to and as a member of the EU you have to follow it. If a country doesn't stand for the human rights that the EU stands for they can follow UK out.
