So as we know GGD's favorite little hunty released his new album last week. I enjoy his music, I don't think it's groundbreaking but it's cute stuff and I liked the album. Anyways I would like to preface this post by saying that I'm not hating on Shawn since I like him, but I found that a lot of songs sound pretty similar to other pop songs that have been released recently and thought it was a little too much of a coincidence.

Because I Had You reminds me of Love Yourself by Justin Bieber:

A lot of people mentioned how Nervous reminded them of Selena Gomez's Bad Liar:

Fallin' in You sounds like Dua Lipa's Thinking 'Bout You:

And lastly I was in the car with my bf when Janelle Monae's Make Me Feel was playing and  I realized it sounded like Shawn's Particular Taste:

Do you guys think he or his team draws a little too much inspiration from other artists or is this just coincidental??

Idk, we'll have to ask Shawn himself, and even then some wouldn't believe it!

This happens with all artists, Gaga included, it's called sampling.

lmao don't blame Shawn. Ed Sheeran, Julia Michaels & Ian Kirkpatrick worked on Shawn's Album and they were also involved in the 4 songs you're saying he ripped off. Do your research

I wasn't blaming him, I included his team. But I admit I didn't know those others wrote his songs for this album as well. Still weird that they used very similar beats/melodies :duck:

That's because both songs were written by Julia Michaels. They're both her own tracks she's given to them. :toofunny:

I loved In My Blood, Youth, and Lost in Japan, but damn if that album doesn't sound exactly like a Mayer album, but watered down. It was disappointing. Two of the (was it 4?) singles were about something other than a girl and that's what I thought the album would lean more towards. It didn't, though, which is really sad considering this was his "most vulnerable album." I like Shawn for obvious reasons, but this album was a serious letdown to me. Most of the album is just about a girl he broke up with or had a fling with

That’s not what sampling is.
