L.A. Times has always thrown shade at Gaga though. They're pressed and will continue to be pressed when she comes back better than ever. :legend:

Can't artists tell the VMS to not mention them? Maybe she asked because she wanted to be gone til the new single music wise...

This is what I was thinking.

No matter what people say, GaGa brings in viewers. A LOT of them. And MTV knows this. They wouldnt have snubbed her cause they want them ratings she brings.

The only explanation is her or her label told them not to nominate her, and they obliged. So to keep the media blackout a little longer.

Besides she's been the talk of the show for the past 3 yrs. People will notice the difference this year. And MTV will do all they can to get them ratings without GaGa in the mix. Expect dumb krazy **** from them to get them ratings too

Pop Art

Uh-huh, sure, LA Times.. :coffee:

You know, I was just thinking that this era might entail some of the themes in this video. Is it pure coincidence that she sort of dropped out of the pop scene, only to 'fall' to the new "it girl" (Carly Rae Jepsen), and is *hopefully* gonna come back with a bang, as shown in the Paparazzi video? Possibly. But I like to the think it actually means something.

Lol. The LA Times are so trolling. There's not a person in the world that honestly thinks the MTV VMAs are actual arbiters of great art. They're a reason for MTV to have an extravagant awards show collecting a bunch of big names. Nobody takes it more seriously than that. The moments created by the VMAs are what's important, not the actual videos they tend to recognize. And, it will be no surprise to anybody who actually follows the pop scene when they're lower rated and a lot more boring than previous years. And anyone with a brain will know why.

But if Gaga was nominated and dominated, same fans who are now bashing the VMA would be saying she's slaying :crossed:

is anyone kinda mad that Wide Awake got nominated for video of the year? Its too new!

It's not too new, it came out June 18th, and the eligibility period is supposed to be July to July (unless you're Selena Gomez). It is insufficiently good, though.

Maybe it's just cause I haven't done my research but I don't know how she can be the new "it girl." I mean from what I have seen she's had one song that gets over played to death and gets annoying after the 2nd time.

Take a moment to think of just flexibility, love, and trust~

The VMA's helped make Gaga, it's silly to diss them now. However, it's also true that the VMA's aren't really about the videos, it's more about the popular songs than actual video merit. I personally think You and I is a brilliant piece of surrealism and Marry The Night was far better than most of the other nominated videos, but since the songs weren't huge #1's the VMA's don't care. I think there also may be some truth to the concept that Gaga may have told MTV to hold her out. I think other than the tour she's put BTW behind her at this point.

Of course this has brought all the haters of the BTW era out from both GGD and ATRL, but in my opinion the videos of BTW ( except TEOG) were all excellent pieces of conceptual art, even if your average pop fan would prefer to be spoon fed something easy to digest.

Worked for MJ, he knew over-saturation = overkill. Looks like GaGa knows this too.

All the same, can't wait to see the ratings this year... :tea:

Ad am I. See how much of a drop the ratings will be. Though I don't think much seeing as Bieber and 1D will be there and Bieber alone will bring in a fukc ton
