Luxe Ford 3,481
I had my first real FOMO meltdown yesterday when I discovered Ängie. How could this subversive, queer, candy-coloured outsider fly under my radar for so long? Discovered by fellow ironic Swedes Death Team on Snapchat. So millenial! I laughed this off as too silly and transparently manufactured. But I put it on again. And again: read up on her and realised she's not a product. She was really ostracized after meeting her first girlfriend at fifteen, she has truggled with ADHD, mental illness and a horrible upbringing. She also writes her own material and co-directs her videos... Her first album "Suicidal Since 1995" was released in April and these are her two aingles from it. [A reaction after an interviewer likened her pastel colour-coded videos to Katy Perry? She seemed to calm down when Brooke Candy was mentioned!] [The existential dilemma when your dealer tries to hook up with you when you just want to stash up.] She might not be the healthiest of role models, but I still see it as empowering. Whenever I see a Yung Lean or a Lil' Peeps my ears glaze over and I see it as just tragic and chauvinistic teen angst, but coming from a girl its so much more attractive. I guess it attracts to the flaming part of my gay personality. I'm shallow like that. Her management worries about the onvious problems about radio, but Ängle doesn't give a... Radio is old media anyways. She also hase a big gay following. Go figure.. 'I have fun and I have no shame!" There's allways room for a bit of shamelessness in pop culture. Edited (spellos etc.): she has a heart with 'two girls one cup' tattoed to her arm and since everybody says its disgusting and I don't take much interest (read NO) in something with adult containts only incorporating girls) I haven't Googled it yet. But because I'm bored and for the good of queerkind, watch me go! What happens in Luxe Ford stays in Luxe Ford

Its been only...(counts fingers) nine hours, and I'm starting to see why only songs #3 and #4 made the album. The others seem a bit too sugar-coated (but I rilly rilly like 'Smoke Weed Eat Furry Beef'), but the songs that made the album sound a bit more... I don't know. What I do know is that I doubted Gaga for the longest time (not comparing them except for the bullied, outcast, command over their own expression, mental struggled, attractive persona, likely to annoy millions of people bits), but she was an aquired taste. I'm not sure how Ängie will fare yet, but she got my pulse going. And I guess...Warner?...took a chance in signing this messy character, because no radio stations in America will play her. But then again, without the dirty language and smoke dense videos, would there be any appeal left? *There's a word in Swedish, förälskad, that isn't translatable into English. It denotes that initial part of being in love; the crazy, effervescense part before love deepens. Just 'falling in love' doesn't cover it.
