DC Extended Universe

It's unarguable that the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) is bigger, and has more fans (evident in their box office performance), but my preference is with DC. I've always liked DC superheroes more than Marvel's, even though I do watch Marvel movies. I'm just wondering if there are any DC fans out here (yes we are the minority).

DC Extended Universe movies released thus far:

Who's your favourite superhero and which upcoming movie are you most excited to see?

Upcoming (confirmed, excluding those in development) DC Extended Universe movies:

Aquaman (2018)
Shazam! (2019)
Wonder Woman 2 (2019)
Cyborg (2020)
Green Lantern Corps (2020)

Various movies in development include Harley Quinn spinoff, Man of Steel sequel, Suicide Squad sequel, The Batman, Joker/Harley Quinn (Gotham Sirens), Deadshot solo film, Nightwing solo film, Deathstroke movie, Batgirl movie, and more.

Personally, I'm pretty excited to see more of The Joker, I think Jared Leto needs to reprise his role, I can't at the same universe having two actors play the same character, even though it did happen to The Hulk in MCU (Edward Norton and Mark Ruffalo) but I think it's best to avoid that.

I'm also really excited to see Harley Quinn and Nightwing. And anything that involves Robin.

I like DC but Warner won’t stop ****ing up the movies. :toofunny:

The Nolan Batman movies are the best!

At least we have a critically acclaimed Wonder Woman. :emma: DC has potential they just need to hire the right directors. I personally loved Man of Steel and Batman vs Superman and Suicide Squad, the only film that I didn't like that much was Justice League. I also hope they let Zack Snyder take a rest and hire some other directors to direct their sequels though.

I think it was the reshoot that killed JL. I read somewhere Warner wanted to make the film under 120 min and wanted a lighter tone to match Marvel’s success. You just don’t post-produce a dark movie into a light movie:toofunny:

the way the rushed the movie is bad too. It has some of the most cringeworthy CGIs in a big budget movie. The could’ve pushed the release back for 6 months or sth. It’s like warner gave up and only wanted the movie to break even

I love Suicide Squad too. Casting was really on point but I expected a little bit more Joker with all that Joker involved promo.

I think DC should develop Atom (Ryan Choi)!!! The only thing lacking right now is an Asian superhero!!!! That character can potentially be as huge as Black Panther. A DC equivalent of Antman should work in DCEU!

I'm more of a DC fan than Marvel.

I loved Man of Steel, Batman V Superman and Wonder Woman. Didn't really care for SS but I loved Robbie as Harley.

Now, what the studio meddling did to Justice League is unforgivable for me. They messed it up so badly that I didn't even watch it the second time. From the weak CGI to Cavill's infamous mustache CGI, to the reduced Steppenwolf storyline and cutting out scenes with Cyborg and the Flash plus the cringe-y Martha-Lois thirsty convo... with the Flash face-planting Diana...  I won't continue the list. Now I won't defend everything Snyder does but when they full well known that they can't back out from doing Justice League since it was in pre production by the time the media ripped BvS to pieces, they should've just let Snyder finish what he started. I don't think it could've been any worse than what we got. But we don't know everything that went down behind the scenes.

I'm hopeful for Shazam!, Aquaman and Wonder Woman 2. Don't know what to expect from the New Gods movie with DuVernay, but I'm also hopeful about that.

DCEU is beyond saving. They need to reboot this, hire a director who understood the source material and actually commit to it.

I will still give Aquaman a chance, mainly because of James Wan. But I don't think I'l check out Shazam and all those other movies they are planning to do, what a mess. They are throwing stuffs on the wall and see which one sticks at this point. :toofunny:

The Child

I didn’t watch Man Of Steel but only saw some clips and I didn’t like what I saw (except for Henry Cavill ).

I wasn’t interested in seeing BvS even though the hype and promo were huge so I watched it when I was on a 8 hours flight and ended up sleeping before the movie ended :selena:

I never saw Suicide Squad and I’m still not interested in seeing it.

I actually didn’t want to see Wonder Woman because of the actress but my sister who’s a BIG fan of both MCU & DCEU dragged me to the movies with her and I ended up LOVING it so it utterly got me excited for Justice League and the fact that Ezra Miller was in it was also something that got me excited but boy I ended up being so disappointed by this movie and I only liked the Amazons fight part.

So I can say that Wonder Woman is my favorite movie so far of the DCEU and I can also say that Warner killed any potential success the DCEU could have in the future.

You're right. The CGI was really awful and definitely killed JL.

Darker tones suit DC the best imo, and has given DC decent box office performance until JL happened. :rip: I mean at least BvS had over $870 million in box office whereas JL barely hit $700 million, which is supposed to be a movie which rivals The Avengers.
