Gaga was a fan of his remixes, and his Born This Way (song) remix was the opening song for Born This Way: The Remix. Gaga then suggested Zedd as the opening act for the BTWB in Asia in early 2012 and he was signed to Interscope. His debut single was "Spectrum" and Gaga and him tried to push the song by doing the Stache remix, which was the first thing Gaga released after the announcement of ARTPOP. Then he released "Clarity" in December and the song became viral. They kept working on ARTPOP and around the time the album was going to be released, Interscope used the hype to push "Stay the Night" (Zedd's first single in over 8 months) and the he released his debut album. So yeah, Gaga was pretty much the one that made him popular. I remember that he said once that he wanted people to stop asking him about Gaga and ARTPOP because pretty much every interview he did was focus on that instead of his music.
