Florian 20,017
I mean there has to be more to the story. You just can't call the cops to arrest someone right? Or can you in the US? Like you have to warn the man or ask him to leave before… no?

Dafuq? Don't get me wrong, I genuinely believe Starbucks and any establishment has the right to ask a customer to leave if that customer is just using space without ordering anything. ASK THEM TO LEAVE is the key here not HANDCUFFS. WTF. And the man who they were waiting for clearly showed up so they weren't lying either. But in the meantime we can wait for more information, and for that time I can hold off the Frapps Spoiler though it's been a while since I've been to a Starbucks tbh Edit: And btw this isn't the first time Philadelphia police have been under scrutiny. There was a huge issue where a university's police in Philadelphia fired a black police officer for not shaving--literally. Even though the officer told them he couldn't shave because he had a skin condition (that mostly affects black people) where their skin gets extremely irritated/gets a lot of in-grown hairs. And they knew he had this condition. That also happened just a while after Trump's election (PA went red in 2016). It was a clear and completely unnecessary act of discrimination. I don't know much on Starbuck's policeys, but if they're loitering (and have rules on it), then the company is in full right to call the police on any individual thag does so. holy scheisse 23,072
Eh; I work at Starbucks. I've had to call the non-emergency cops on some people unfortunately... One was a man soliciting people's information "registering them to vote" in the parking lot. I asked him to leave the first time, but he came back a few days later so... The other was a homeless man, unfortunately, who many customers were complaining about that wouldn't leave our parking lot asking for money. I felt bad on that second account. It's very hard to be in the position where you have to call the police for your company. I hope there's more to this story than is apparent and it's not just some idiots making a ridiculous decision. Now if those 2 men came into my store I would not mind at all if they were just using the wifi etc. I let people do that all the time. I wouldve enjoyed the snack of looking at them. They were just standing there, not doing a thing, but it's okay to ARREST them? lmao i agree that its wrong to have arrested them, but technically if you go into a business without intention of purchasing it's called loitering. In some instances, it's illegal. Not defending it, of course.
