That article is such an over exaggeration.

In my opinion, there's nothing wrong with her covering this song. Does the cover suck? yeah for me it does, but people are being extremely extra about it.

I wish journalist would stop using the same Twitter madness to create stories. It’s 2018 so people will cry, bitch, and moan about pretty much anything. It’s a cover, there are hundreds more. People do the most I’m legit going insane.

I read it as "Taylor Swift Just Disrespected the Earth".

Look...

I heard the clip of the song, and didn't find it to be horrible. It's definitely different. However, this song has been covered before and unfortunately Taylor will be getting the heat. The article is also very ignorant writing that Taylor should get beat for her performance. That's completely uncalled for.

I find it hard to believe that only in 2018 would you find people crying and moaning about things. Why can't we just argue that the website has poor writers? There has always been people crying about things. There has also always been headlines that blew up small things. Always. You only see it now because we have the internet.

Reading The Root article, I am so sad for the state of journalism right now. I can't believe an article that includes lines like
"This is sooooo disrespectful", "Taylor Swift needs her ass whooped" and "I want to beat Taylor Swift and everyone at Spotify at the same damn time" got through the editing department and published.

I don't even care about the threats of violence or about Taylor Swift in general, it's just incredibly shitty writing and it's so, so sad that people get paid to write like this. This could have been a thoughtful, critical critique of her cover but instead it reads like someone ranting in a group chat. At less than 250 words, it can hardly even be called an article.

Why are people mad? She just covered a song. No of course it doesn't sound the same because it's a cover. You're supposed to make the song your own, not to blatantly copycat the original artist like you're at "Your Face Sounds Familiar".

I never said only in 2018?? Of course complaints have always been a thing, however, In the climate we are in in 2018 it’s a lot easier and has become the norm for people to berate, critique, and slander situations that are not of importance. As a black person, I know my people and I’m annoyed by the black people who are trying to use any situation to seem woke or like an activist. Calling Taylor unseasoned chicken all day on Twitter is nowhere near woke or progressive. They’d rather make Taylor trend than support unknown black artists or black struggling black businesses... too worried about Twitter and getting likes to seem important as a “woke” twitter account. That is why I commented what I did.

She didn’t “disrespect” it...she just failed in her interpretation of it. I don’t know how its even possible to make that song not an earworm bop, but she did. :emma:
