K but how if we recycle, don't use cars, etc and we don't have to get to this point:pray:

Fight Climate Change is the most important thing in the world to do and I don't let anyone say otherwise

I consider myself an environmentalist that likes to weigh the economic costs as well because I think they are both so important. We have only one planet and no where to go if we screw it up

I'm going to make a thread when I have time about cost to environmental benefits ratios and how focusing on certain things produces more results vs other in relation to cost

Spoiler: I'm not against pipelines and I will explain why but it's too long to explain now my break is almost over

I am happy that some people realize the problem of climate change. I mean honestly. In my eyes it’s THE BIGGEST problem in the world right now. Do they realise that in 70-80 years NY, LA, London, Hamburg and many other city’s will be under water?!

Nobody seems to care and I am really worried

As a person that keeps tabs on environmental and economic issues I can say the reason "no one seems to care" is because both sides can't work together and co-operative also people are not well informed enough to know what stuff you should oppose and what stuff you shouldn't

For example here in Canada a couple of Provinces still have a lot of Coal Power plants which is super toxic and we have economical alternatives to it now but it is not getting much political attention

Environmental extremismists instead focus on projects like stopping pipelines which only forces more oil by train and trucks, reduces profitability and revenue and causes congestion of railway space for other products

Economic cost of stopping pipelines very high... Environmental benefits very limited

Economic cost of shutting down Coal plants very low... Environmental benefits very significant.

People who want to save the environment need to be well educated on the big picture so they can create political pressure and change on this is that actually make a big difference without damaging the economy

But people need to co-operate and stay well informed. Right now we just have opposite political spectrums fighting causing dysfunction over things that in the end make little difference anyway.

If I was in charge of an environmental movement of focus on what stuff has the highest forms of environmental benefits in relation to cost and put the focus there.

Heavier Public transportation subsidies is another example of low cost and high environmental benefits. Fewer cars on roads polluting, lower commute times for remaining cars, and economic benefits such as consumers spending less on gas due to lower commutes, businesses moving their products faster, and income redistribution since more lower income people use transportation and would benefit from lower fares.
