Spock 20,290
Taylor Swift celebrates her sixth album to sell 2 million copies in the U.S., as Reputation reached the mark in the week ending March 15, according to Nielsen Music. The set sold another 5,000 copies that week, bringing its cumulative sum to just over the 2 million threshold. Previous to Reputation, the most recently released set to sell 2 million was Adele’s 25, which arrived on Nov. 20, 2015. It hit the 2 million mark after just three days and bowed with 3.38 million sold in its first week. 25 has sold 9.45 million copies through March 15. For context, in all of 2017, only two albums sold more than a million copies: Reputation and Ed Sheeran’s ÷ (Divide). That’s a stark contrast to 10 years earlier, when 29 albums sold at least 1 million, with eight of those surpassing 2 million. In 2017, 166.3 million total albums were sold, as compared to 500.5 million in 2007 and 790.1 million in 1997. () Reputation reached the 2 million milestone in its 18th week of release. To compare, here’s a look at how fast Swift’s five earlier studio albums cleared 2 million: 1989(three weeks), Red (five), Speak Now (six), Fearless (seven) and her self-titled debut (61). https://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/8257460/taylor-swift-reputation-sells-two-million who will love me when the night is over
ThisGuyTony 30,159
Taylor is still a huge album seller compared to her peers but it is an underperformance of an era for her standards.
That J 12,166
It's so sad how far album sales have declined in my lifetime. Wow. The Idler Wheel Is Wiser Than The Driver Of The Screw

SevenWonder 4,318
I'm waaayyy older than most on this site. It used to be even so so performers sold 2 or 3 million albums. The good ones sold 7ish. The gods/goddesses sold 10 million plus. Oh well. There's a price for free music.

Yeah and that's her own fault. If she has no intention of promoting her own work anymore than I guess I have no real reason to care if it flops anymore Take a moment to think of just flexibility, love, and trust~

It's because she isn't promoting. If by her not doing anything and chilling the album pulls these numbers, can you imagine if she had gone full 1989? lmao "underperformance". People will do anything to discredit her success streak by calling what is literally the most successful album of two years in the US an undeperformance (and hiding using "by her standards" to drag) who will love me when the night is over

People are calling her out left and right. I’ve been in lecture halls where professor’s trash her as a mean girl lmao.

WANEGBT was her first #1, off of her fourth album. So yeah, her singles are underperforming compared to her previous album, but not really to her standards because her singles standards isn't that good. The Reputation singles are on par with the majority of her singles pre-1989 who will love me when the night is over

Many people don't find a replay value in Reputation.
