Why did Madonna miss her cues?

throwback to this cute little SNL skit but i really remember a few years ago that, in the aired version, Madonna had missed her cues but she got it right in the rehearsal version  

and it was awkard to watch cus it was just gaga singing her lines?  

am i getting this mixed up because i so remember seeing comments saying "the rehearsal one is so much better cus madonna remembered her lines!!"  

edit: ignore this original OP  turns out that i was right but now i really want to know, why did madonna miss her cues?

They probably posted the rehearsal one. Sometimes if the dress rehearsal is better, that’s the one they put online.

Real talk tho, I think what happened is something must have gone on with their monitoring, since the musical track had backing vocals, they had to be right on time, and both came late, hence why everything else was screwed up.

Gaga being the pro she is tried to keep up with her lines anyways but it just didn't come tru

Not every performance can be perfect  this is like asking why a pianist missed a few notes in his performance when in rehearsal he performed it perfectly. The nerves get the best of us sometimes

I think what happened is they were not introduced in the aired performance.  In the rehearsal they both turn around when their names are called in the aired that clearly never happened

 

edit - actually I think I’m wrong about they names not being called in the aired, I rewatched ,I have no clue wtf happened

I think they went with the sloppier version for a more comedic effect, and it was a change they made after the rehearsal
