Judas caused Gaga's downfall

I don’t buy it. TEOG was a hit and the other singles didn’t fare as well because she was so overexposed. What really killed her momentum was Applause going head to head with Roar and failing to top it. Then ARTPOP was far too different and loud for the go to really enjoy. Then she also had her team falling apart, and then she went on to tell the public that part which made it seem like she was washed out. Now she’s slowly climbing back up but I think she needs to kick it into high gear a little because the gp is already starting to dislike her little by little.

Didn't she decline when LoveGame didn't reach number one? God what a flop

I think the main issue is that most people around the world are just tasteless, close-minded rats :whitney:

It was definitely releasing MTN as a 5th single from BTW then returning a year and a half later with Applause that done it.

TEOG was a hit, but like I said in my OP, the hits following Judas were never as big as the hits before Judas. Up until Judas we were accustomed to Gaga being pretty much on top. TEOG brought a more safe sound back that is why it was a hit, but many of her casual fans had already left. You and I was also a hit but it was smaller than TEOG. And Marry The Night ended up flopping. So ARTPOP started with a lot less hype than BTW did and also with a lot less fans.

I disagree cause it was a hit in Europe -at least. I remember (I wasn't a fan back then), she was still very popular and successul before Applause came out but then it never was on the radio -like any other song from ARTPOP- and people just forgot her...

I still say the two biggest reasons were her not following the GP’s and her management at the time’s expectations for her next career move, and her being more pro-LGBT than ever before.

People liked her when it seemed like she was using gays as a selling tool but the second she started walking the walk and going to marches for equality, helping repeal DADT (which she is majorly credited for being a massive part of the overturning point btw), starting a pro-LGBT charity, stopping deals with companies that fund anti-LGBT actions and organisations (Target specifically being the major one she stopped a deal with) Etc people started to not like it.

We seem to forget that a lot of the people who’re pro-LGBT who we know in our personal lives now, used to openly use the words f*g and tr*nny in 2008-2010 to describe Gaga and her fans. Fake people.

But hey, she made it a trend to be pro-LGBT I guess and helped us even if 90% of celebs are fake about their love for us

Why does this topic keep resurfacing every month? We don't need to keep discussing it over and over, it's not going to change what happened, we should stop dwelling in the past, yes she made some mistakes artistically that effected her popularity but at least she has always kept her integrity.

It was the Born This Way era in general. That's when she first moved away from pop. Her pop had always been different. But Born This Way was way too different from contemporary pop. Only songs like Hair, TEOG were still GP faves. Some liked You and I. The overexposure did not help at all. The other thing is the production. Born This Way would've been much more palatable for more people with a less noisy production (it still did well regardless due to heavy promo and Gaga's impact and standing in that era).

Consistent hits can work for a person like Taylor Swift who mostly had similar music and then made 1989 which did great. When she changed significantly (reputation), it's not doing crazy well. Gaga has always changed her direction way too much every era and she keeps losing monsters every time and getting new ones who only stay for 1 era and are like, "Wtf we want the old Gaga back." Many people who thought Gaga was their everything at the time of the Monster Ball don't give one **** about her now.
