It has been noticed that over the past 30 years falling birth rates have successfully predicted recessions several quarters (1 quarter = 3 months) before they actually begin

It was also found that looking at short term birth rate changes as a barometer was more accurate at predicting recessions than conventional analysis of equity trends and other other consumer indexes

It is believed that since few families or couples plan pregnancies with a bad outlook on their finances, that this gives a real world person by person average of how they are fairing a better grade than most statistics and sample surveys the Government attempts to use to see where the economy is going

So basically, people f*ck less for babies because they know money will be short, so a recession is around the corner

so d*cks act as barometers now

is that right?

Less people, less problems!

well, not quite.... in the developed world less people means less workers who pay taxes, and less funds for pensions for the future. Sure, the world is overpopulated but not in the developed countries that give use the life we're used to.

This! The world economy structure depends on growth

If growth stops or even decline, people would have to get used to things like later age retirement

And anytime sacrafices like this are mentioned we know how 85% of the public reacts

Ppl want clean energy, no pipelines, don't want retirement age to be adjusted for demographics etc...

But then people complain when electricity rates go up, when retirement deductions have to go up, when gasoline doesn't stay down for long etc

Ppl have to decide what they really want and stay consistent
