Definitely Rated R: it was released after GGGB which can be compared to BTW and performed pretty poorly.

I belive it was Rated R. A album of rage and with 'strange' approach that turned people off. So, as previously stated, she quickly corrected it by releasing Lous and firming her hits streak.

However the R8 waiting era in 2015 was quite a mess. For the first time she was releasing an album with multiple years gap, then dropped those random three singles that were quite different from what she used to offer and people were acclaim but also confused at it. The success wasn't that impressive and she slowly faded during the year.

But her team, in a very smart strategy again avoided a flop album coming and remade the whole thing, scrapped the previous singles and put out Work, a bop that even the alternative music avant-garde queen Björk loves it and then: Boom! "We all love her again" and now every time she blinks people are adoring her even though the ANTi album included a bunch of scrapped concepts and songs that don't quite fit together (but still serves great tunes). However is doing surprisingly good in the streaming era.

Joanne sold 620K pure copies in US and 2.2M + streams WW in 1 year as streams wasn't relevant during ARTPOP.

ARTPOP sold less than 2.5M copies WW in 5years. 

So basically 2.2M in 1 year is more successful than 2.5M in 5 years.

Plus Joanne was nominated and performed at Grammys + had Super Bowl and Coachella and won awards including AMA's all stuff that ARTPOP failed to achieve. 

Even JWT outgrossed Artrave with much less shows so Joanne era is much more successful as a whole.

Can we stop calling ARTPOP a flop? It was messily handled, yes but it was much more successful compared to some pop girls.

ARTPOP sold 2.5M copies _PURE_ and it sits at 4M sps. It had 3 top 15 songs, which one spent 14 weeks at top 10 and became her biggest radio hit.

Joanne sold 2.2M _SPS_ and it had two top 15 songs, which one spent 1 week at top 10 and was pretty local tbh and the other one bombed.

 

ARTPOP keeps winning.

There is no reciepts that ARTPOP sold 4M copies SPS . Look at the Billboard updates Joanne sold 660K in the US and ARTPOP sold a little over 700K when it has 4 more years. Love all her work but there is a reason ARTPOP is called Gaga's flop album and not Joanne.
