That’s where you are WRONG :ladyhaha: that’s how we view it now because we are used to it but when it first came out - it had backlash. Just like everything, tbh.

CDs actually improved sound quality compared to vinyl. Technology got better in the 80s, 90s and even early 2000s.

Yet somehow streaming sound quality sounds worse than a CD :wtfga:

i could see this being the case, but the only major star from youtube or other social platforms is bieber.

shawn mendes (not that cute btw :stalkga:) has few hits, and tori kelly has had moderate hits. i know there are others, but even those platforms are overcrowded.

The Youtube of Bieber's day is a totally different beast to what it is now though. It's a crowded platform, absolutely agree, but there are break out stars and the number of channels that have over a million subscribers grows every year. I'm just going by the trends.

In 2017 there was a growth of over 75% from 2016 when it came to channels with over 1 million subscribers. Back in Bieber's day (let's be generous and give him to 2010) there were 5 channels with at least one million subscribers. Now there are 5000+ channels with at least a million subscribers. These days a channel with 1 million subs is a small channel, subscriber counts and views are continuously growing.

The Paul brothers have shown that it's still possible to experience extremely fast growth and breakthrough. Logan has like 17 million subs and Jake has 14 million. Their videos often get around 5 million - 10 million+ views. Who knows what their channels will look like in 5 years, but the trend over the past couple of years has consistently been higher subscriber counts, higher view counts and rapid growth.

An artist like Cardi B can use her platform on a reality T.V show that averaged 2 million + viewers each week, where she was in the main cast with 6 other people, to score a #1 solo hit and multiple top 10 hits. People thought reality T.V was a career ender, but now music executives are signing the 'catch me outside' girl because they realise T.V exposure = free marketing and a fanbase.

I genuinely believe, the next big thing will be from a platform like Youtube where the artist is averaging 10 million + viewers each day and isn't sharing that spotlight with anyone. Right now it isn't taken seriously, but 5-10 years from now there will be a young artist that breaks into the Hot 100 with a couple of hot tracks who is able to sell out an arena on the backs of their online followers alone.

I like strong statements like this:ladyhaha:

Never is a strong word you know.. and as Justin Bieber ft. Jaden Smith used to say "never say never"

I can smell your penis, I can cure you, DIE SIS

My theory is that a new generation of big pop stars appears every 10 years more or less. Just like at the end of the 90s it was Britney, Beyonce, Spice girls and Christina Aguilera, last one was 2008 (Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Adele and a little before Taylor Swift and Rihanna). So I think there's a new generation arriving very soon, and Dua Lipa and Camila Cabello might actually be the first two of the group.

Woodrake is coming to save pop music  in 2019. Mark my words and glue your weaves cause bitch is coming. Gays and GP will be shock. Art and society will merge.

I actually think she was the last big popstar that came out, I mean when you see how she started in 2009 and managed to keep it till 2011, she felt incredibly big! likke her name was all around the world... and nowadays I can't think of another girl who did the same after her though

... and now i just sit in silence.

If its from social media like YouTube I want the next superstar to be Gabbie Hanna (the gabbie show) or Shane Dawson

The AUDACITY, the LEVEL OF DISRESPECT to compare those non talented singers with any popstar is just disrespectful. They can't hold a note like they can't keep their views without the clickbait

I kind of Agree with you but don’t forget about Dua Lipa. I don’t stan her but I like her music and her voice. And I know that she is a rising star. Her next album will probably be her big boom... :lolly:

Omg this is SO true I completely agree. The music industry will definitely invest in YouTubers cuz of the amount of subscribers that they will be able to sell concerts and stuff.

I mean people thought that before then Gaga emerged in 2008. I feel like the problem is that no new artist is fresh and original, they’re all the same.

and if they are different, it feels forced cause they wanna be edgy, Gaga was a BEAST and influenced many artists today, no one just has hay spark anymore
