Paris Hilton's debut underrated pop gem?

So I was watching throwback Gaga interviews and I came across one that she did with Paris Hilton when she was first starting out. During the interview, Gaga says that she thinks Paris's song Stars Are Blind is a "great pop record," so I went give a listen to see if Gaga was just being nice. :hor:

Turns out...the queen was not lying. I was super impressed with how well-written and performed Stars Are Blind was and wanted to see if the rest of her debut followed suit. Sis, I was truly shocked when I found out how good the whole thing was :gum:

The production, the melodies, and concepts were all extremely well-executed and while I'm sure Paris's vocals were manipulated to some extent, she was totally enjoyable to listen to the entire way through. I love that the album plays on her perceived public persona and while the lyrics aren't the deepest thing in the world, I feel like everything Paris is sings is done so with a wink. Plus, this album has the NICEST flow.

A lot of the reviews for the album stated that she just "bought" a good album, but I feel like that isn't necessarily the case...I mean, listen to Kim K's venture into music :lolga: You can tell Paris has a good ear and picked some cream-of-the-crop producers of the mid-00's. And I think it says something that the album still sounds fresh 12 years after its release.

For real girls, you should give this album a spin because I think it's right up there with some of old-school Britney's records.

What are your thoughts on this album? Is it underrated or has my flop taste shown its weary head once again? :golfclap:

Fun fact: Kesha sang the backup vocals for "Nothing in this World" :hor:

Not so fun fact: it was produced by Dr Luke:S

I always thought that this song reminds me of Katy Perry's Hot & Cold, turns out that it is also Dr. Luke's song..

edit : I mean the other way, if Nothing In This World released earlier then Hot & Cold reminds me of this

Further proof that all of his songs sound the same :reductive:

I do dig Nothing In This World though so I'm conflicted??

Stars Are Blind is written and produced by Fernando Garibay.

Explains why it's such a classic :staymad:

Loved it! What a surprise. The demo of screwed was waaaay better than the album version. Nicole Richies song was quite cute too.
