Quark 7,098
o<(0_0)>o Many people/fans were shocked and or not pleased when Gaga released Born This Way, ARTPOP, and Joanne after having released The Fame and The Fame Monster. To these people, Gaga was always meant to be this big pop star that would produce hit after hit and that was going to stay in the pop lane for the rest of her career. But I think that Born This Way, ARTPOP, and Joanne were always meant to happen in Gaga's career. Very early on I saw Gaga not just as a popstar, but as an artist. As someone that was eventually going to get more weird/crazy, more artistic, and as someone that had a more raw and personal side. With BTW Gaga unleashed that crazy and weird side of her that was telegraphed by songs like Teeth, Dance In The Dark, and by videos like Alejandro and Bad Romance. With ARTPOP Gaga finally committed to her big artistic ambitions that were telegraphed by her concepts of Fame and by her constant artistic references. Finally, her personal and raw side that was present early on in her album Red and Blue and in songs like Speechless or her stripped down Poker Face covers, made it's full appearance in Joanne. The details of all of these projects were always unpredictable, but the big concepts of all these era's were part of Gaga since the beginning. Goannneeee 18
I agree! If you were a fan of gaga from the beginning the fame, the fame monster, born this way, ARTPOP, and Joanne all make up who lady gaga is and everything she’s talked about and known over the years. I feel like when we get her next album title it’ll be like ‘oh that makes sense how come I didn’t see her naming her album that’
dit 46,518
It makes sense. Many ppl forget that before The Fame and TFM Gaga was making a lot of pop rock songs and was at one point a part of a band or something. She wasn't making TF & TFM type of music forever. Just because an artist "debuts" on a certain date doesn't mean they do not have a musical history that pre dates an official release. She was a classically trained goody two shoes when she was very young and then rebelled and became a band member and then she became the Lady Gaga we saw with TF. BTW, AP and Joanne being different should come as no surprise. Gaga has been transforming forever and will continue to do so.
RochestrMonstr 3,233
Well said! Although TF and TFM were her introductory and most successful eras, to me they feel the least “Gaga”. The disorganization that began during the BTW era was never a bad thing to me. It made me learn to love the ride. It’s literally been that way for the majority of her career now. Quite franky I’m surprised with how many people still wait around here hoping for her to have a commercially picture-perfect, radio friendly pop era again, when she hasn’t done so in a decade, and has made it clear she doesn’t plan on doing so again. Lord Temptation 11,209
Yes I do believe Born This Way, ARTPOP and Joanne are a trilogy: Born This Way is all about life and death ARTPOP is art and pop Joanne is heart and soul
DaftFameMonster 2,527
To be honest I'll take Born This Way, ARTPOP and Joanne albums over The Fame and The Fame Monster any day. I truly feel they embody Gaga and what her message, her enigma, vision.
