This is so bad. I know it's just for a movie but that's no excuse, she can sign up for better soundtrack opportunities than this. I can't believe this is the route she's going down after all this time. How many more songs is she going to make for movies? How many more movies is she going to act in? How many more non-musical things is she going to do before she finally gives us a new album? Who's willing to bet that this is what she was referring to when she replied "it's coming" in January to a fan who asked where her new album was? Hey, it's new music, it counts!

I bet it was scrapped yet again for 10375th time and she is now wondering how to record the trendiest song yet again, but by now I don't think there are people interested in her anymore. She wasted so much time worrying about success, rather than making quality music and music she likes , that no one cares anymore. She can release the album of the decade(impossible) and it will go unnoticed.

I agree, things just went from bad to worse to the point where I think she can't see herself crawling out of this hole so can't even be bothered trying anymore. I was shocked to find that her last appearance was in Say Somethin which was in 2013. While it wasn't her song, she got a #4 hit out of it and even won a Grammy, her first in years. Why didn't she capitalise on that? In 2013, she said she was getting back into writing every day. Throughout 2014, she made claims that her album was coming along nicely and that she was working with Pharrell. In 2015, it was also claimed that she was making a Spanish language album simultaneously. But any updates dried up in 2016 and we've heard literally nothing since then. I wouldn't be surprised if she scrapped the whole thing and started over, maybe more than once. Obviously she wanted to work with Pharrell after he had major success with Get Lucky and Happy but that was 4 years ago. Maybe she thought the material they made sounded dated and had to restart? Now Latin music's hot again, maybe she'll fire up the rumoured Spanish album as well? It's all a big mess and I don't think she knows what she's doing anymore. I honestly don't think she's genuinely liked anything she released after Back To Basics. Bionic was altered to the point where it didn't suit her original vision, she was forced by her label to make up for its flop by rush-releasing Lotus which was so unlike the music she'd been making up until this point and clearly wasn't her and now she spends her time doing songs for movies, featuring on other artists songs and doing Oreo ads. She can't even be bothered to get married. She's just about to enter her fourth year of engagement to Matthew Rutler, with whom she has a 3 year old with. If she hasn't found the gumption to throw a wedding in all that time, what hope does she have of releasing an album anytime soon? Gaga's gone through an engagement, a called-off engagement and a rumoured new engagement since Xtina got engaged. Gaga's released 2 studio albums and a covers album since Xtina released her last album. Gaga's hit milestones like getting nominated for Golden Globes and Oscars and performing at the Superbowl since Xtina last released an album. Gaga's gone through a downfall and a comeback since Xtina's last album. I sometimes wonder what Xtina does with her time, I really do.

Ok, Gaga is a younger act someone might say, but all her contemporaries(Beyonce, JT, Britney, P!nk) released 2-3 albums since than, went on World Tours several times, won several big awards, had hit songs and etc, etc. Since 2012 Xtina has released 4-5 soundtrack songs and that's all , like wth are you doing Xtina?......   Aside from being an Oreo mascot the past 2 years she's done absolutely nothing.

At this point I think she might have problems with the label and can't release what she want's but won't release what they want. I know RCA are sh*t, but JT, P!nk and Britney are also with them and all 3 of them have released 2-3 albums and several stand alone singles since. 

Imo right now she is scared of flopping for a third time in a roll, since she received a lot of bad press around Bionic/Lotus. As you have said, it would've been a great opportunity for her to capitalise on Say Something and Feel This Moment's success, but it's been 5 years since than and there is literaly nothing. 

And ok, she is scared to releas EPs, but she could've at least released some of the soundtrack music she's done as singles and shot one or two MVs for her fans. She lost all her fanbase, because she didn't cared enough for them. It's ok to loose GPs interest and it happens to all artists at some point of their careers(Gaga, Madonna, Britney, Kylie), but losing your fanbase is tragic for one's career. When there are no fans, there's no one to "float your boat" and the boat(her career in that case) would sink, I'm afraid her's is already sunk, just like Fergie's for the same reasons(did the Double Dutches even sold 50k WW overall by now?).

Yep, people Xtina's age and older have managed to keep on releasing albums frequently, so it's not an age thing. Xtina's also gone through the stress of a divorce but it's not a marriage/divorce thing either - Justin's married, Britney's been divorced and Pink's married. She also has 2 kids but it's not a parenthood thing either, Justin's got a kid, Britney has 2, Pink has 2. If anything, heartbreaks like divorce and joys like children should be inspiring your music all the more, not resulting in writer's block. And when she sees the trend of surprise releases and artists stepping outside their comfort zone but that's not enough to push her either, I'm wondering if there's anything that will give her the push she needs to create and release something. I've actually turned to songwriting since early last year and approached it as if I'm writing songs for other artists. I'm just about to wrap up one for Xtina, actually! I've almost written enough songs to fill an album. And I've done this on my own, in my spare time. If an amateur can do this on their own, how come a professional singer with professional songwriters and producers around to help her, can't come up with anything after over 5 years? What are these people being paid for?

I'm sure RCA would think it would do more harm than good to have her not release music at all, so I don't really know what their plan is with her. How can they be happy with her not releasing anything? If she really just can't be bothered making music anymore, why can't she just say so? To leave her fans hanging is so cruel.

You're right, it's unthinkable to consider what would happen if you lost your fanbase. It's rare to have the public on side but not your fans, so if the fans go, that suggests that the public's gone as well, so you literally have no one. If you don't care about them, why should they care about you? I have never heard Xtina talk about her fans in the same way that Gaga talks about hers. When Gaga talks about her fans, it brings a tear to my eye. Does Xtina even talk about hers? Sure, she had that dedication to the fans on Back To Basics but that was just a pure ego trip and was all about her, not them.

I guess we should wait and see if something realy comes around this time(year), but I don't think it will, her fans are praying for a miracle.

Also you mentioned writing, she does not even have to write all the songs alone, there are tons of writer and producers than can do that to her she can realy just focus on recording the music
