Dark Anatomy 2,284
Let's be honest. Everything can be traced back to her breaking her hop. THAT'S when everything got worse. Born This Way was not a flop by any stretch. Number one single. 2 top 10. Million plus copies in the first week. At the end of the day She just wore her media presence out. The REAL issue was after the hip break Gaga was dousing alcohol weed and pain pills like there was no tomorrow. Instead of taking the time to heal she was doped up pressured to remake ARTPOP by her management. So "ensure" a comeback. But after the backlash she sobered up and starting dealing with the fibromyalgia pain instead of masking it. She let botox and Hollywood and other people tell her that she needed a reinvention. I think at this point the Gaga we know and love is a painful reminder of dark times to her. So she's trying to run away from it. And now she's physically and mentally wore out. That’s completely normal, it has happened to every artist that is or was once big, it happened to Michael Jackson, it happens right now to Britney, Madonna, etc. The one thing that keeps me wondering is why it happened so soon to Gaga... madonna is not the same energetic and creative woman she used to be in the 80s but she’s been around for decades, its understandable considering her age and how long she’s been in the industry. same as Britney, if you watch her recent performances she’s not even the shadow of who she used to be in the 90s, BUT she was still slaying and delivering in her SIXTH ALBUM. (Circus) Gaga’s popularity and success began falling right after The Fame Monster, sure she was still controversial and somewhat relevant but it feels like since Born This Way nothing has been the same anymore, (B) her videos are getting more and more generic and predictable every time, and this has nothing to do with the Joanne concept, which I actually liked, I still remember when you never knew what to expect when it came to a new Gaga video, (C) her performances are getting less energetic and completely lack that “Gaga creativity” that they used to have. Like I said, I’m not being delusional or salty, this is just part of every artist career, I just wonder why it happend just as early as AFTER HER 3RD ALBUM, back in 2011/2013 would you have believed that Gaga would be doing Vegas residency this soon? What do you think? (A) I Think The Fück Not Exhibit #1: (B) bish you thought Exhibit #2: Spoiler (C) Welp Exhibit #3: Spoiler But seriusly, the music has gotten a bit ephimeral, people just go to the hits section and hear what's trending. Is like everything is getting digested more fast than ever.

It’s not about the concept, it’s not about crazy dresses, or blood, or a giant egg it’s about the soul she can be simple and still slay (the sound of music for example)

Gaga never had 2 sold out dates in Spain until JWT... all the shows where sold out but they take way more than these ones and they were just one show Plus remember she's now 31 years old... she was 21 when Just Dance was released... people grow up and change. Miel 15,009
I think life just happened to her, and she started dealing with it in a way that's still artistic and creative, but now different than before. She also has more (public) physical limitations than before. 3 points in and ready for more

REALITY 76,263
Are we all watching the same artist here? Gaga has not lost her "creative spark" in my opinion. I feel like when you guys are talking about her "creativity," you're solely focusing on the theatrics. "Creativity" is a big and broad subject and I don't think she's lost it, I just think she's changed and evolved as an artist. First of all, you guys are basing this off of one era. If we're talking about the theatrics and the eccentric performances, yes, Joanne isn't a theatrical era, and it didn't need to be. That wasn't the point of the era. The point of the era was to showcase who Stefani was in the midst of "Lady Gaga." It was literally "Lady Gaga without the fame," she even put that in her Twitter bio! Music video-wise, sure her more recent videos aren't as outlandish as they used to be, but again, this era wasn't meant to be outlandish. I mean, look at "John Wayne," it shows that Gaga still has that "spark." The problem is is that you guys are comparing apples to oranges. Gaga said in an interview during this era that with each new era, you have to sort of let go of the previous ones. Now this isn't to say to just completely forget about her past, but you shouldn't be constantly comparing the eras because realistically she's going to change and evolve as an artist. She's not going to keep doing the same thing over and over again, so we shouldn't be comparing the same things over and over again. It also seems like she can never win in these kinds of circumstances: Okay, you want her to do all the theatrics and you want her to show "creativity" again? What happens when the general public thinks she's too "weird" or "crazy"? What happens when you guys get super critical of every prop she brings out, every outfit she wears, every performance she does? What happens if she isn't as commercially successful as she once was and now you start blaming her for it? Alright, now you want her to be commercially successful. What happens when you start blaming her and her team for not being "creative" enough? What happens when she does put out an amazing selling album, but it's a bit more "mainstream pop" and you guys call her a sellout? What happens when the general public says, "Oh, she's too normal. We want 'Old Gaga' back!"? And don't stone me for talking about her commercial success. I get that her creativity and her commercial success are two separate entities, but they're linked together. Part of why you guys want her to go back to being more "creative" and crazy is because of the commercial success she got. I'm not saying that was the sole reason because it most definitely wasn't, but it's part of it. 🦠🧙♀️🥀📸🎉👻🕺🧟💊💖☎️🔪👤🐺🌱🌎
TheMiddleGround 3,244
3 hours ago, Mister Gaga said: I think that the ARTPOP backlash affected her in a way much more bigger that what we've seen, and we will never understand. Everything about her changed. One thing is losing your spark as a performer because of age or illness, losing commercial success due to so many years in the industry. But other thing is changing your ideas, idk how to explain it. Remember when she hated hollywood? Now she's hollywood favorite girl (Golden Globes, Oscars, Vegas). Remember when she said she'd never play safe? Look at Joanne, it's target was the basic GP. Remember when she said she composed for the music/arts, and not for the charts? Look at The Cure. We kinda saw the old Gaga at the Halftime Show, but it was just for 13 minutes. And i'm not talking about outfits, or commercial success, i couldn't care less about it. I'm talking about her soul, her integrity. I've been thinking for the last couple of days that the Gaga stanning kinda blinded me. I'm seeing things different this days. Not in a bad way, but just from another perspective. Thanks. When I tried to say this on this site the backlash was huge. Like I didn’t know what I was talking about. Even tough I almost have been stanning for an entire decade.
MillionMarkys 350
Her unusualness got my attention, but it was her heart and her humanity that kept it there. And this hasn’t changed (for me). I do agree that now when she dress up as “Gaga” (see the BR outfit at JWT) it seems a bit like she’s dressing up as herself, like it’s an effort. It just doesn’t seem “natural” like it was back then. But that’s OK. I don’t think her creativity has diminished at all. You can look at the way the Joanne tour is structured, you can look at the little nods in some of the songs on Joanne (some of the melodies or structures that just scream “Gaga”). It’s hard to explain really, but this is just my opinion.
Mavis Gary 364
She will never reach the heights she had in her early career. It was her Imperial phase and once that's gone and happened you don't get it back. The best we can hope for in terms of GP success is a brief resurgence such as Cher with Believe, Madonna with Confessions On A Dancefloor or Kylie with Can't get you out of my head. You just gotta enjoy the music as it comes without worrying about commercial success because she's never gone be number 1 in the charts with every album and every single but what she will be is still with us making music and doing World Tours in 20 years from now. She may have lost the charts, as all women in pop do at some point, but she'll never lose her staying star power.
