"Frankfurt, Germany, Jan 24, 2018 / 03:00 pm (CNA/EWTN News).- A German bishop’s proposal that the Catholic Church could provide blessing ceremonies for gay couples, as well as divorced and civilly remarried couples, gained support at a Church conference in Frankfurt this weekend.

Earlier this month, Bishop Franz-Josef Bode suggested that the Church develop a ceremony for blessing same-sex unions during an interview with Neue Osnabrucker Zeitung.

"We need to think about how we can differentiate a relationship between two same-sex people," said the bishop, who is deputy chairman of the German Bishops' Conference: "Is not there so much that is positive, good and right that we have to be fairer?"

The bishop said that same-sex unions are a reality in the country.  “We must therefore ask ourselves how we meet those who enter into this relationship and who are also partly involved in the Church,” he said."

As a cathloic i cant express how happy i am of my religion. Catholics tend to be more accepting and loving.

When will it happen in Mosques ? :laughga:

There's actually a  Mosque that opened in Germany that is LGBT-friendly. But as a regional group, I suspect that will still take some time. Maybe within the next year in Australia, where an Imam there is interested in expanding several LGBT-friendly mosques throughout the country. It's exciting stuff to see.

It's not Turkish based. Quite the opposite. The Turkish based mosques (DTIB) are against gay marriage

Sorry about the mistake. I think it's because the article I found mentioned one of the founders being Turkish-German, and therefore I mentioned it being Turkish-based. I'll clarify that.

Oh I distinctly remember that thread and the coverage they had about that on U.S. news. I'm well aware, but she's fighting for what is right, I frankly don't care too much about the media/politicians who are up in arms about it. They can deal :trollga:

Tbh if I may be honest... That's cuz from what I've seen and ppl I've known Catholics are not as hardcore about their beliefs as other religions

80% of them don't bother going to church on a regular basis and they slack on a lot of their beliefs. So it doesn't surprise me they'd be more willing to compromise their beliefs

Most Catholics I can't tell the difference between them and a non-religious person

I'm generalizing tho. I've met a few individuals who are dead serious about it!
