JustinLovesGaga 883
Good idea or bad idea? Personally, I hate this idea. The whole #TimesUp movement is about equality and fair treatment for women in the workplace, let's treat them as equals to men and not segregate them into separate categories. BUT this is an idea being thrown around on social media and here, too, so let's hear everyone's opinions! YES this used to be a thing and the Grammys changed this years ago but the conversation is being brought up again so lets discuss it.
Enzo 37,977
I think it should be this way So they can give the awards to all those messy man And actually give them to woman who deserve it too 툭 까보면 어김없이 소리질러와

Enzo 37,977
I mean, doing different categories does not mean that woman are less than man You don't want it because you want equality But we have general categories and there is no equality... 툭 까보면 어김없이 소리질러와
Glamourpuss 29,062
I believe there should be separate categories. Unfortunately we aren't equal yet. We're still fighting for it. I believe that there shouldn't be shared categories until we take a huge leap forward with equality. Look what was said about women needing to step up for example. All Ed had to do was make a "bop" about casual sex and he won the Grammy. Women represented talent this year and they lost. We live in a sexist society and having an equal category was too soon in my opinion. I'm assuming the categories used to be separate? Edited a contradictory typo. Sorry for the confusion. GypsyBabe 22,836
What really needs to happen is like all the old academy people with terrible taste need to die of old age and be replaced by people with ears. ⚯͛

I'd say no. If there wasn't a reason to so before the Grammys then not now. People are only upset.

Ronk 14,762
Quoting from @bumblebee about what the Grammys president said: "He also said that there need to be more female engineers, female producers, and more women on executive level, because women then would be better represented in the academy voting members. People tend to forget that there is no single Council in the Academy which determines the winners. Hundreds, if not thousands of members vote in a free voting, and the question itself should have been posed in a different manner: how can we make sure that more members vote for women at the Grammys? Well he meant that we need to have more women with the right to vote in the Academy in the first place, by having more female engineers, producers and executives. And also more creative and heartful and envelope pushing music to match that." This means some of the Grammy voters vote according to gender rather than the quality of the music. As long as the voting members are predominately male, women artists are at a disadvantage in winning awards. This disadvantage could explain why Gaga and Kesha both lost to Ed. So yes, separate gender specific Grammy categories could be a solution. It's not because female artists aren't as talented as male artists, it's because the Grammy voters don't vote solely on the quality of the music. I live outside the space time continuum. Taylor Z 108
If you were to merge both of them together, men will more likely win. Or vice versa. The segregated award categories seems very fair for everyone. This isn't like a dang bus or water fountain, guys. como estas
