Sometimes I wonder how it became normal to eat meat and not bugs :laughga: Surely bugs would've been easier to catch?

the adjectives she used to describe them. also the way she was chewing on them fried grasshoppers, like she couldn't get enough. :cryga:

Three guesses:

1. It was probably easier to kill one cow than it is to kill 1000000 crickets to make the same volume of food. Because once you kill a cow, you gotta make a burger. And burgers are filling.

2. Raising animals in particular conditions is a lot more expensive, so maybe it became a sign of wealth to eat mammal/large seafood than to eat insects. It also may be difficult to raise just one type of insect because of infestations, so you may get the bad along with the good.

3. Maybe insects are more prone to being disease vectors, even in controlled conditions? I’m just guessing here.

Edit: also, how would you kill them? Like mechanically? Because then they’re not whole anymore and maybe there are guts everywhere??:cryga: would you like... gas them? :laughga: just hold on, I’m gassing crickets :cryga:

It was in a camp, and my friend's forced me to do it:selena: I don't know what bug was, but I put a little sauce on it, the texture and taste was not my type of food, but it's not that bad, you know, Angelina and Asians eat a lot of bugs lol

I’m not the person you quoted, but I ate cricket once at a “Mexican” restaurant (the authenticity was... debatable :laughga:). It was in a chili sauce and I believe it was fried. It was really good! The crunch was really nice and it’s not something you replicate with mammal meat or seafood. The actual cricket didn’t seem to have any flavour. If you’re not vegan/vegetarian, you should try it!
