Born This Way 'ruined' Gaga

As much as I love BTW the album, and as much as all of us here do, I think it's the reason of Gaga's decline.
Many people insinuate that ARTPOP is Gaga's era where everything fell apart but I always had the feeling that all that happened during the ARTPOP era was the consequence of Born This Way. 
 

As we know, Gaga always encountered success since Just Dance til Alejandro.
Then Born This Way (single) happened. Everyone speculated so much on it that it was obviously gonna hit #1 and stay there a long time.

As far as I looooveee the single and it's one of my favourite song on the album, I think that it was a bad move. The proof is how fast it declined after that (kinda reminds me of Look What You Made Me Do even if it was smaller) 

The video for BTW kinda created a demoniac/satanic image around Gaga (that I love but the GP clearly doesn't).

When I mention Born This Way (the era) to my friends, they tell me it's the moment where they stopped loving Gaga : the video of BTW (the song) scared them, the sounds were too noisy, she was too weird... 

+ The promotion was too heavy, she was everywhere at a time where no one couldn't really see her anymore. It felt like she forced/imposed herself. 

The 'semi'succes/'semi'flop of everything that followed can be explained by that. 

She wanted too much too fast. Within a year : she pulled 5 singles, 5 videos, promo singles .... (now we have had Million Reasons for a year and a half and honestly I think that's how you make a song a hit that will stay in time). Too many singles = the GP gets lost and lets it go. 

I guess the big sales of BTW (the album) come from the GP that loved TFM. And the low sales of ARTPOP can be explained by the fact that the GP didn't appreciate the previous one (BTW) as much so they didn't get interested in ARTPOP. 

Everyone that I meet absolutely love Applause and DWUW, so I think there never has been a problem music-wise during ARTPOP in the eyes of the GP...

Gaga's huge success took an end during the BTW era, but she kept the boat afloat thanks to her previous successes. However she saw the effects during ARTPOP. 
 

If we follow that logic, hopefully will see the effects of all the work she done during 2014-2018 for LG6...

However, even in that 'regaining a perfect image' era that she's been through these past years, I think she made mistakes :

- she maybe should have promoted more on streaming which represents the future of music : Million Reasons could have been way bigger, same goes for Joanne-the song- which had (has?) huge potential

- she totally forgot Europe, where she suffers the most from that old image

EDIT : maybe I didn't make it clear enough. I love that album and I would never take everything that happened then back ! It's what made her in a way, and she really killed herself with work for us ! I'm just analysing the situation with the GP eyes and trying to understand her decline. 

It's tiring getting comments 'we don't care about charts...'. Those politically correct comments. I'm not ungrateful at all for BTW and I totally loved it, I was just trying to do an analysis

I kinda agree. I think people started being "over" her at the end of this era. She was everywhere since 2008 and people were just tired. 

Same thing might be happening with Katy Perry. She was everywhere with Prism and she may have tired people that's why she is flopping now.

THIS Drag me I don't care she started declining right after releasing Born This Way (song), I as a part of the GP back then did too (but Applause brought me back for a while )

I ****ing love Born This Way (album) but its sounds and productions are quite similar and no wonder people got bored and started losing interest in her. ALSO the videos quality dropped savagely Still love Judas, but hadn't even heard it after I starting stanning

ofc it did, because she didn't quite follow the successful pop formula anymore, she put out an album (one of the best albums ever tbh) made with her heart & soul, not for the charts, it had the chart success as it did mostly because her fanbase was already huge by then + the backup from her TF+TFM success. doesn't mean the singles were bad though, they were AMAZING, but obviously too 'in your face', which the GEEPEE never likes, all they like is fast consumable pop ****

Judas was the final nail in the coffin, but her downfall started with Alejandro (and yes, i'm aware Alejandro was a huge hit in europe/latin america).

Be grateful she sacrificed a lot of her commercial success to be an advocate for LGBT rights and generate conversation about online bullying and mental illness when NO one else in the industry dared to.
