When will we have a new trend in pop music?

Since 2015, most of the songs on the radio have the same sound. I think it started with Justin Bieber and it has continued with The Chainsmokers and Ed Sheeran. I think is EDM? Tropical house? I don't know. The thing is, when do you think we will have a new trend? How long do usually trends last? Who do you think will set the new trend? What will it be like?

When Gaga releases LG6 of course :trollga:

She already influenced different artists with Joanne, so why not take this to another level with the new album?

Well first tropical house then it kinda swapped to Latin rnb like despasomething I feel like the next trend will be 90s early 00s rnb which I really hope won't become a thing

I want to know who lied to y'all to think what's on the radio is EDM? Although EDM is a broad category, this current musical trend is built more along synth pop/mid tempo/house music than the harder hitting EDM stuff that was popular in 2011/2012.

I don't know but I hope this male singers / urban / hip-hop / tropical / EDM thing is over soon. There's nothing creative in this trend. It's all just lyrics about love + lifeless vocals + basic but catchy beat.

I need the rap/hip-hop trend to end like rn :air:  it was more fun when rock/metal was alive, this soundcloud rappers are killing the music :air:

I lowkey feel like rnb is gonna make a comeback which I'm eh about because I just find it boring no shade. There was a lot of rnb in the 2000s which Gaga totally walked over with her dance-synth pop debut

Indie rock is already getting more popular.  Most of the songs I hear in malls has this indie sound.

Anyways the change of those trends is vague. Since 2015 we can say there were trop-pop, dancehall, trap, acoustic pop.

I definitely see this latin, r&b, hip hop trend continue for a couple more years.

Then I think it will all become more EDM influenced again.

It def is going to be. The song Gaga did in NY for ASiB sounded very 90's RnB but modernized in its instrumental.
