My first favorite TV show is getting a pilot order at the CW after being in the works for a few years now.

“The rejiggered version is set in the present day and is described as “a fierce, funny, feminist reboot” centered on “three sisters in a college town who discover they are witches. Between vanquishing supernatural demons, tearing down the patriarchy, and maintaining familial bonds, a witch’s work is never done.”

Jane the Virgin‘s Jessica O’Toole and Amy Rardin, the team behind last year’s pitch, executive-produced and wrote this redevelopment for CBS Television Studios, while Jennie Urman (Jane the Virgin), director Brad Silberling and Ben Silverman are the other EPs.”

Holly Mary Combs (Piper) meanwhile had a mini rant on Twitter today about it:

Sorry, but I won't let some trash authors and actors destroy the series of my childhood :madge: :neyde: (alongside Avatar :flutter: ). I'm pretty bad at predicitions, but I predict it to be a flop :icega: :bye:

Oh my god, this sounds like "Let's do something that worked before and make it more feminist! People like that now!" - don't force it. The original was feminist and effortless about it.

If the original cast (including Prue, the true queen of the power of 3) ain't in it, I ain't gonna watch it!

Jane the virgin is an award winning critically aclaimed show. The original Charmed can't relate.

HMC is so annoying. Movies and shows get rebooted all the time. And no, the original show was not feminist. It was not sexist at all but it wasn't feminist either.

This already sounds like it’s trying too hard :green:

And that still doesn't mean that JTV has class, is entertaining or gripping :neyde: the actors are unbearable, the execution is cringe worthy and the dips in popularity are justifiable. Charmed on the other hand has a following even now almost 15 years later and became a pop culture phenomenon, we'll see about the other one in a few years if it can do.

I guess we watched a different show then, cause the sole synopsis is feminist :giggle:
