I understand if you’re skeptical – I was too. But wave goodbye to your apprehension and listen up. Just when you thought it was safe to return to the water again (for, like, the few months since The Shallows came out), 47 Meters Down swoops in on Netflix to shiver your timbers with another villain from the deep. With 47 Meters Down, you get exactly what you bargain for; low-budget, well-executed, incredibly stressful fun, elevated by an emotional performance from Moore, the shark movie queen herself. Thanks to its disarming simplicity, perfectly compact running time (just 89 minutes!), and breathless pacing, it works. I’d wager that it deserves a place among the best shark thrillers out there.
