Yes, I did. However, it’s something that my black friends use with me and against me in the same I do towards them. My Middle Eastern friends also throw around the term Sand N*****. It’s simply a matter of comfort within our groups. We simply find it comedic instead of offensive.

While I don't wholly agree with your stance on the n word usage.

I will add that sand n**** (I'm MEastern) is used by black young people (at least from my experience in Boston). It's not comedic, it's used as the n-word is used by black people among themselves. Which is why an arguable exception can be made for the use of the N-word (more specifically alongside "Sand") by Arab-Americans.

Personally, I'm not comfortable using the n word on its own (I look hispanic and not Arab). But whenever I know people who are fully aware I'm Arab, i tend to be more comfortable saying the term Sand N***** in America.

If I'm in the Middle East I wholeheartedly avoid using the n-word even though it's used as it is in America among all youth groups (black or otherwise). Especially since racism between Middle Eastern Arabs and African Arabs are practically nonexistent. Th racism we have is limited to the usage of the word "abd" (salve) in North Africa I think, and I've never heard it once in my life (UAE).

The racism (i.e. discrimination) you see in Gulf Arab states are social-classed based or religious rather than racial (though it surely exists as it does in every corner of the world).

Sis, everyone is too sensitive. A large majority of black people in my area use it when referring to their friends, wether they’re POC or not. Not only that, but they are completely okay with non POC using it as well.

Why should I, as a Hispanic gay male, dictate wether or not my friend wants their check book to have sugar skulls on it? Why should I stop other people from enjoying my culture, or calling me a wetback as a joke? Why should I be mad and/or upset because they decided to use terms such as “Chico” or even “ese”? Should I be mad that on Christmas Day my partner’s family sang Feliz Navidad instead of Merry Christmas?

No, I shouldn’t stop them. I shouldn’t be mad or upset. Why? Because I believe in unity. Worrying/Fighting about wether someone can say this, or can wear that stops us from unifying. We’re so caught up on white people wearing dreads and sugar skull makeup that we forget we’re all human. We feed into the notion that we are in fact not the same.

literally my same point of view, plus i grew up in another generation so there... and im also hispanic so i can relate

Some of you people trying to discredit people and say they are “trash” just because they don’t understand how it’s offensive.

The truth: the reason why people who aren’t black are more comfortable using the n word, is because of black people- more specific, the rap game. Rap’s biggest audience is people who aren’t black. Rap music throws around the n word in “everyday casual rhetoric”. Even in person a lot( not all) black people call each other the n word. In a lot of friend circles black people have no problem with their friends who aren’t black, using the n word in comedic or casual rhetoric. All this APPROVAL has led to the fact that the word is losing it’s historical negativite relevance.

The problem here, is he black people, or anyone who finds this word still offensive, are still being offended, and rightfully so. But don’t get mad at white people, hispanics, Asians, etc.. it needs to be unacceptable in the in the black community, in black music, in black hollywood- for it to really, truly be unacceptable. You can’t say something over and over and over, and make it become so regular- then, magically be offended when young people start using it. The word is casually everywhere- and the loss of its historical relevance is because of black people.

Mad want so badly to be outraged at the Paul brothers, when they aren’t the ones who have caused this Cultural problem. Hold the real people accountable. If you use the word casually, I don’t give a **** if you are black. This is your fault. This is a problem you need to be held accountable for. Stop using the word. If you use it, then you truly aren’t really offended by it.

Si, at least here in Mexico nobody cares, its more what u said, its cool watching someone loving **** from your culture, and also back then i saw some videos about some mess with a Kimono and they asked japanese ppl if they cared, they said no if it was treated with respect so...  "Woke toxic twitter ppl" and "SJW" are the only one pressed about it,  and yes, sometimes there are moments when americans do disrespect a culture and should be called out for that, but we reach a point where u cant do or say anything cuz everyone is super sensitive about everything

I mean, she didnt used it in a bad way, its not like she was into a fight using that word to disrespect someone, plus, in the times we living rn the music played in radios + the most streaming songs are rap, when u live surrounded by that and knowing that probably the 90% of the rappers use the n word in them songs and almost every america listened that song daily  :rip:  there's a point when u just grow up with that specially younger generatios and they grow up thinking its just a common word used by their fave artist its not like we still living when it was used strictly to disrespect, unless ure a redneck or a nazi, yall can punch them tho they deserve it lol

It was actually aimed at black people who have normalized it in culture, but get offended when anyone else uses it. But nice try.

I hope you understand that slavery was very prominent in other races and culture, and not just specific to black ancestry..

So what you're saying is it's okay that black people were enslaved & its history shouldn't matter since others races were enslaved?
