The entire Republican party is a joke at this point... first their president says Jeruzalem is Israel's capital, but on the other hand there were anti-semites in the administration (Steve Bannon).

The rise in anti semitism scares me.

These people are always looking for scapegoats.

Funny thing is that I really don't see there being some alt-right reckoning happening in the near future elections. It dilutes the Republican base by splintering it so much between conservative, but reasonable people and *actual* nazis. My uncle is a professor of economics and he even said he wasn't voting for Trump last election because he wasn't a republican. He voted for Hillary because she's more in-line with his views. Alt-right, like fetch, isn't going to happen in America like some holy apocalypse because only a minority of people adhere to its principles and it has the adverse effect of making other people come out and vote against them. This is a push back to Obama liberalism, not a long-term trend or anything.

Hahaha I’m not sayin every republican is that way but there are plenty of people who are very reasonable on things like gay rights or social security who also are personally more conservative. There’s a spectrum. The US, by and large, is more conservative than much of the West and that includes democrats and liberals. My mother, for instance, is pretty religious but couldn’t give a hoot about my being gay and never did either. She also didn’t want me having sex with my bf when I was in high school either, though (oops). There’s a spectrum and not everyone is either angel or evil incarnate.
