Born To Slay 10,996
It occurs to me that Joanne was released less then 3 weeks before Trump's win. If Joanne was slated for release after Election Day, that may have impacted Joanne and had Gaga put a few political songs on the album, maybe not even direct disses against Trump but possibly some "woke pop" songs like Chained To The Rythym. Are you happy that Joanne was released before the election so that nothing Trump or political (other then Angel Down) came up or do u wish that Joanne was released later, so that we could find out how Gaga may have expressed her feelings on the political climate in her music. Ziggy 11,874
I don’t think she’d have changed Joanne, actually. 1) Interscope had had the album a few weeks already, but 2) I think she’d be very firm on the importance of the album to her as a person given his election. She did have political songs, but the album is healing for her, not ailing (or rather, she heals through ailing like on Joanne or Angel Down). derpmonster 22,412
Like others said, Joanne was a personal project which was best kept about her and her family. Still, she has some subtle political undertones in Come To Mama and Angel Down, etc. It's an album about being human and often humanity is made a partisan issue but she talks about it, just from that human and not political pov. Besides, she is political in many other ways like campaigning, Twitter, etc. All monsters who don't want her to be political, bye lol. She is. She campaigned with the DNC. She has always stood by human rights for all which unfortunately some groups in America don't believe in. You can leave if it bothers you but your queen believes in gay rights, black lives, and resisting xenophobia, racism, and homophobia. We love our political, human, and more than fun and pop culture queen. Edit: Corrected - she didn't support Bernie Check out iTunes data & graphs at CHARTPOP.live

holy scheisse 22,275
Unpopular opinion, but I hated that lady gaga, queen of provocation and flamboyance, released a conservative album coinciding w/ the rise of Trump and the conservative resurgence in America. Idk I read an article that expressed this feeling a lot better than I can. But it felt... sad I guess to see Gaga create her most conservative work yet whilst the voice of conservative americans grew louder and louder. She did afterall make it for that ~"gurl in the middle of america raising children"~ or whatever she said that one day about who joanne was for lol
