i found it too teen like but it's cute i guess, a little quirky

they really try hard to push Archie as someone you want to "funk downtown" with and his cliche relationship "problems" were just zzzz

flashing me this pasty white boys abs every episode won't make the story any more interesting than it is

It takes a reaaally long time to figure out the murderer in Series 1 and the writing is really stupid in places but it’s a cute show aside from the extremely unrealistic glamorous portrayal of teenagers by 20 something’s. The way the background characters are the only people of colour is a mess but it’s a CW show so don’t expect much representation of different ethnicities, aside from two of the white-passing main characters. 

However it does mostly appeal to teenagers, so just check out the pilot to see if it’s for you

I think the series is very cringey and cheesy, I have to pause it sometimes to realise how ridiculous some scenes are 

but I keep watching the show

I agree that Mr Svenson isn't the "real" black hood. I felt like it was just too random and his story had barely anything to do with Betty. But I think Uncle Bedford would be too random as well and it would kill the last bit of hope I had for that storyline. 

Personnally I think it's Betty's brother, who is going to be in the second half of the season. I believe he is the "brain" behind the murders and forced the janitor to execute the killings.

You do know that Riverdale is based on a comics series. The main TV characters just look like the characters from the Archie comics.

Having a POC main character just for the sake of telling "oh look we have a POC main character" is plain dumb. They also "made" Josy POC and developed a whole storyline about it

That hasn’t stopped other TV shows from representing minorities even if the source material has white characters. 

If you are suggesting about ‘token’ minority characters, then I agree, it is stupid. But I don’t think it’s dumb for a TV show to be inclusive of all representations of people since that is the world we live in.

The whole glamorfied white specific narrative of some media sources is outdated now, people want to see themselves being represented

btw i hope i don’t come across as rude, this debate is just interesting to me

I have a hate-love relationship with the show. I don't like the main characters (Archie/Veronica)

I think they don't really contribute anything to the show more than sex/teen-drama pointless scenes. 

On the other hand, I love Betty and her family. They are just so interesting...

Polly and her drama with Jason.

Alice and her whole past (and Chic)

Betty and her dark side... I just love the Coopers.

 

If I'm honest, I only watch it for Betty (and somehow, for Cheryl) 

It's a good show, but it could be way better.

About the mid-season finale... 🤷 

It was obvious Svenson wasn't the real black hood. Archie said it himself, he saw the eyes of the real black hood. 

It's obvious that there is more of this story... I do believe Chic is involved in all this mess (That's why he chose Betty)

 

I can't wait to watch the B side of the show. And I really hope we get more suspense scenes and less Varchie's (and for God's sake, someone give Kevin, Josie and Cheryl a better storyline)

I tend to agree with this but remember Veronica is a Hispanic woman.
