analkna probably Troy or Perez Hilton, at that time was when she and he had the worst time together, as soon as Perez Hilton said he was worried about Gaga and he was gonna stop being bitchy about Gaga, Angela Cheng dissapeared, im 100% it was his pressedt ass

Who is this person?

I wasn’t around back then and I’m so fascinated by what happened in this era.

Angela Cheng, she started the rumour that Interscope lost millions with ARTPOP and the reason everybody call ARTPOP a flop

When the album campaign kicked off, it was just hate coming out of everywhere cuz it was cool. And, in my mind, the biggest fault out of all of this is stan culture itself. Suddenly it was every fanbase possible agaisn't Gaga. Media in general have been really...interested about what the "young audience is searching for". Suddenly they check twitter and the trend right now is to call "ARTFLOP" and "Lady Fadga"... bam. They want the clicks.

Another prime example of why “stan” culture and comparing peoples sales is so ****ing stupid.

*** this is for all of you conspiracy theorist

I know this sounds ridiculous but I have been looking at a lot of Gaga's 2013 interviews and something seems off....

Watch this interview from The Guardian:

Every time Gaga said something, they would randomly overlay footage that attempted to discredit what she said.

I have found a lot of interviews doing similar things where they try and paint Lady Gaga in a negative way.

Anybody else think this is weird? She didn't get radio support.... the media turned on her... her entire team abandoned her.

Also, I know this has probably been discussed a lot over the last few years (so forgive me.... but also sorry not sorry) but I want to hear CONSPIRACIES. I think there was somebody really powerful in the industry that purposefully tried to destroy her career.

Troy, Perez and MADONNA did the most to break her... it makes my blood boil just to remember these years..

WTF is MDNA

Realistically, I want to say it’s just the unfortunate cultural connection between tabloid journalism and media spotlighting. A lot of you are correct- people love when somebody is on top of the world, but love it even more when they get to watch them crash and burn.

Gaga, especially. She wasn’t just the pop star- she was outspoken, bold, weird, and literally everywhere. People were tired.

She was self-aware enough to know this narrative and cycle, but I don’t think she was prepared to the extent of what actually happened. Like, this woman was dealing with trauma and pain silently for years until all this extra B.S. came and screwed with, not just her career, but her health.

It was really sad to see how much her old management and the label, at the time, really didn’t care or do anything to curb it.

I hope one day her and her current team, like, give us a little exposè about this situation.

DJWS’ more recent IG posts really add more emotional weight to the whole situation. Like, he said he could literally write a whole ass book regarding the ARTPOP situation.

Also:

- MTV disallowing Gaga’s original vision for her VMA performance so that the limelight would be on Miley Cyrus that night

- Media reports (by anonymous sources) that ARTPOP lost Interscope $20 million dollars

So much of 2012-2014 was really a dark time. What made it even worse was that many fans turned against Gaga too. It was almost like a civil war between monsters and ex-monsters.

100% agree. It really shows her professionalism in that she hasn't spoken out about it to smear them for what they did. She is getting the last laugh now instead of getting petty revenge. It's sh*tty she had do so much to prove herself as an artist, but she has gone above and beyond and shown just how much she deserves that legend status she has now. I think it will definitely come out one day, but I doubt she will waste time talking about it. Too busy making coins in Vegas and on a sold out tour, filming movies, recording bops and winning awards :classy:

Tbh it wasn’t professionalism but the threat of legal recourse or making it worse for her in the industry by speaking out. You can tell she *wanted* to speak about it in interviews like Stern’s, but she’s even said legally she can’t.

That month was huge for her. Her performance at the Oscars was literally such a pivotal career moment for her. As soon as the world FINALLY realized she was talented and not just a gimmick it happened. Even though we had been KNEW her talent was majorly slept on until then. Basically when the industry got an interest in her again, was when her career was reinvented, when Joanne smashed and she landed the Superbowl and so on.

I think AHS helped a lot too.

Something really dark that involved an "art performance" with mutilation & some scary scheisse

tbh I'm glad it never happened this way. It's just too dark for a song like Applause and people would probably overlook it

I don't know if it was a calculated campaign but I don't think I read one article during 2013-2014 where Gaga wasn't either dragged in it or at the very best just given a back-handed compliment. She couldn't be mentioned without there also being a mention of her "downfall". It was very frustrating. It's crazy how the media loves her now and she's only covered positively. Sure I see a back-handed compliment every now and then from articles by Billboard especially but it's no where near as bad. I would get so mad back then.

Yes, and she couldn't be mentioned without mention of the meat dress, as if that was some terrible thing.  They didn't care that the meat dress had meaning and was worn to make a point on an issue.  And they made things up about Gaga in 2013-2014.  One critic panned a concert he obviously didn't even attend, because there were factual errors that anyone who was there would know was untrue.  These journalists and critics don't have to worry about being factual, because their readers would never attend a Gaga concert or pay any attention to her.  So the readers believe what they are told by haters.

I live outside the space time continuum.

I really like this interview in particular though. Gaga is very poised and deflects the interviewers strategic negativity. It's like a silent battle between two very smart women, and I think Gaga won her respect at the end.

I agree 100%! I had never seen this interview and was very impressed with the way Gaga handled the interviewer and her questions
