This comment in particular is making me nervous about ASIB

One of the most upvoted comments says :

“It's coming out of award season to a mid-May release. Either it's not as good as hoped, the studio has better options to push for awards, or it's not awards friendly as is better suited as summer counter-programming.”

For me it doesn't necessarily mean the movie isn't good. I understand the studios like WB must choose those movies they think are more worth of their marketing budget. They can't promote all movies the same way and they can't send them all to the Oscars. But one thing we can be sure about: forget about Golden Globe, Oscar, etc. If they intended to send it to these awards they'd release it in September.

This is sad but I’m sure Gaga is aware of this (If this is true) :/ so it won’t be a disappointment for her

You don't have to release a film within a specific couple of months for it to win an Oscar...

true, but the movies that get a push for the awards are almost all released towards the end of the year, right before the voting begins

Luxe Ford

I doubt the script will be quite up to par with the one Dorothy Parker wrote for the 1937 version, but it's going to blow up greatly anyway. And the story fits Gaga so well. A once in a lifetime portrayal.

Imo a lot points the fact Warner Bros is not really putting all their hopes on it :

- They made it out in May.

- They made it rated R.

- They gave the December promo spot for Oceans 8 instead of ASIB while it's out before O8.

- The obvious lack of promo (still no poster seriously !! Most of big movies out next year already had some promo spots and at least an official poster !). Promo for movies NEED to be starting far before the release date.

However the movie turns out, it's a chance to see our fave on the big screen in a LEADING role. It could turn out to be fantastic and critically lauded, or it could be hailed as one of the worst (so bad it's good) of all time. I hoping there's no middle ground or "meh" reaction. Full throttle, baby! :giggle:

My guess is that they moved it to May to turn over a larger profit, considering it’s such a lowkey movie compared to probably to other “Award season” films being released in September.

idk, I don’t know if they think releasing it during blockbuster season will get a higher profit or something.

3 points in and ready for more
