Many experts and researchers agree the rapid imcrease in life expectancy in the 20th century is unlikely to be repeated this century!

Because medicine is advanced enough to prevent most premature deaths already, there is only so much upswing potential left

While finding cure for cancer or finding better treatments for ailments such as diabetes, heart desiese and Alzheimer’s may increase life expectancy by up to another 10 years... Conventional medicine does not change the fact that we age, and no amount of curing of illnesses will change that fact

ATM most of the developed world has a life expectancy of 80-82 years which may increase up to 90-92 years by the end of the century than level off. This is a much slower increase than the 30+ years added last century

By end of century people who live to 100 will greatly increase but will still make up less than 10% of individuals who make it there. Super Centnarians who make it to 110 will still be out of reach for the vast majority of people!

However should we find a way in the meantime to slow aging itself at the celullar level, this would change things

I think what's important is to age well, to be 90 but in a bad shape has no point, I think we gotta find a way to be 80 and in good shape. But I read a comment somewhere that someone said, and it kinda made me think... What if it makes it worse to be 80 and in a good shape as though you're 20 years old? Because when you're ill, and you can't move, you cannot wait to leave earth and be at peace, but if you feel as young as a 30 year old, you gonna be terrified of death. What if nature made us age that way for a reason, so that we'd wanna surrender our body that's causing pain, and be mentally ready to die

Often at u get warning signs close to death tho like diminishing energy or getting sick and not getting better... unless ur well into ur 90s and could pass at any moment especially in ur sleep

At 80, if you have energy and good health it usually means u still have several years left. U dont usually go just from 1 day to the next

I get what ur saying tho... i think id rather still be healthy at 80 tho than not

As for aging well i think it has more to do with our habits. Medications help manage and control symptoms from illnessesthat would otherwise kill us faster. So thats not “nature”. In the past if u werent healthy u didnt live a long time period.

Now in modern times u can be unhealthy and suffer but often kept alive due to our advanced medicine. Thats not nature. But i believe living healthier can offset much of that

I also think that the gap in lifespans between people with healthy habits and people woth bad habits has diminished. Medicine will prevent very premature deaths due to self-inflicted illness but they wont slow aging for someone who is healthy

Modern medicine keeps u alive longer... but the quality of your health, thats more up to you
