Taylor revealed her bi-curiosity in Gorgeous (Analysis)

NIGHTCRAWLER

Hey Monsters!

Since the first time I heard Gorgeous it is so obvious. In Gorgeous, Taylor is totally having a crush on a girl, and she can't deal with this attraction and she's angry about that.

- You should take it as a compliment that I got drunk and made fun of the way you talk:

Taylor's in a nightclub, she obviously drank alcohol and she's making fun of a person who is probably talking in a funny way. Why would she make fun of a boy talking? What is fun about a man talking? (unless it's a clown but, come on, Taylor only attracted by masculine men, or...) I mean, girls can be like so dramatic when they talk and I bet she's talking about a girl that is very bitchy and dramatic. Also it is so a girl-thing to make fun of the way other girls talk.

- You should think about the consequence of your magnetic field being a lil too strong:

Taylor is attracted by a "magnetic field" that is very vague, they way she says it sounds like she doesn't want to have those feelings but she's actually caught by a magnetic field even though it might feel wrong.

- And I got a boyfriend he's older than us, he's in the club doing I dont know what:

Here, everything is cleared up. She got a boyfriend that is older than they are. Why would she write a song about her cheating on her boyfriend? That's not taylorish. When she says "us", she's referring to a group of people that are connected by one thing: their sex --> they're both women. Her boyfriend is in the club doing she doesn't know what, that means she doesn't care anyway about her boyfriend because she's caught up by something different and more exciting --> "p*ssy"

- You're so cool, it makes me hate you so much:

Okay, a big part of the song is about jealousy. Taylor is attracted by this girl but also really jealous of her. She's so cool that taylor is attracted by her, but at the same time she's upset because she doesn't want to have those feelings and she feels like the girl look/is better than her anyway.

- You're so gorgeous, I can't say anything to your face:

"I could make a bad guy good for a weekend", since when is Taylor shy when it comes to men? No way. She's speechless because she feels inferior to the girl, that's why she can't say anything, she's kind of impressed and embarrassed at the same time

- And I'm so furious, at you for making me feel this way:

She doesn't want to feel like that, and she's so upset because she didn't want to get into this mess. Now she's like, why do I have feelings for a girl? Am I straight or not? F*ck it

- You think about the consequence of you touching my hand in a darken room:

Darken room! Still dont get it? The only time those two people make contact, is on a darken room, which means they dont want to be seen, why? because it's two girls and it could be "awkward" (not for me of course, but in our uptight society), especially since taylor got a boy. The girl touches her hand, so taylor is passive. That means that the girl is lesbian and is kind of attracted by taylor as well. This makes taylor even more confused and she hates that.

- If you got a girlfriend I'm jealous of her, but if you're single that's honestly worst:

that proves what I just said: the girl is lesbian since she obviously got a girlfriend. And if she got a girlfriend, Taylor's jealous. If she's single, that's worst. Why? Because if she's not single, taylor can think "well, I'm in a relationship, she's as well, so dont do anything its okay" but if the girl is single, there comes a dilemma. Now she's like, "god should I give it a shot? should I try it?" And that's worst because it's all on her shoulders.

- You make me so happy it turns back to sad, there's nothing I hate more than what I can't have, you are so gorgeous it makes me so mad:

Well first of all I dont really get why she is happy since they didn't even talked together or so, maybe because she touched her hand? Because she got feelings that makes her feel "alive" so "happy"? But now the hatred is explained by something else: the fact that she can't have her. So the hatred is based on jealousy ("you are so gorgeous it makes me so mad"), envy and despair. Why would she be so angry about a guy being really handsome? That's nonsense. And she assumes that she can't have it because she doesn't want to try it, because she doesn't want to think about herself as a bi, since she got a boyfriend, since she's only dated boys and all of this is too weird to be considered.

Mind also the fact that she never uses a male determinant like "he" or "him" and that's not usual to Taylor's writings if you look in her other songs.

Here's my analysis, I hope now you get it. I admit that it makes me love this song even more because I can totally relate to that feeling, and if you've been through something similar, you understand that she can't be talking about something else than bisexuality.

Let me know if you already noticed that, or if you found other clues.

I'm sorry but everything you listed works for a guy too. Doesn't give me any lesbian teas. This is a bigger kii than that time when people called WTNY a gay anthem :selena:

Whispering

The song is about her current boyfriend Joe Alwyn. She saw/met him at a party while she was still dating Hiddleston.

"he's in the club doing i dont know what" implies that he might be cheating in the club not that she is cheating... anyways: no

Nothing you said can’t apply to a man. Everything is a really far reach. I refer to people of two different genders as “us” if we’re together. Like what? Lol...

Don’t think it’s what she intended but I would totally be here for it lmao

I was shook at the no male pronouns at first, but the whole song she’s singing directly to someone, so wouldn’t use he/she anyways

There's so much stuff about her being gay if you look hard enough on tumblr. People are really convinced she's a closet lesbian :toofunny:

that's what she wants you to believe... I got her :reductive:

Edit: Why would she write a song that says "there's nothing I hate more than what I can't have" when she's actually in a relationship with him?? Wake up bros
