MelbHawker 6,583
So happy Melodrama scored an AOTY nomination. It's a beautiful album

DeleteMyAccount 11,881
Does anyone feel bad for Lorde though? I mean, if she wins, she'll end up being that white girl that beat 4 men of color for AOTY. I don't think that way, but you know people will go after her and the Grammys if she wins. This whole situation makes me feel comfortable considering how last year went. And now that most of the noms were chosen instead of voted in makes this award show seem like a pity show. But at the same time, does this article mean that Lorde has no way of winning because of the weird nomination process? I feel like Bruno will win. But Melodrama is actually like a great album with universal acclaim, its the third best reviewed album of the year and one of the most discussed critically. I think if it won, it might come across that way from general frustration at black artists not receiving AOTY wins, but in terms of actual like "quality" of music, by any sense of relatively objectivity we can muster, it wouldn't be undeserving compared to the competition. It's a complicated discussion. Do we award the most socially relevant album? The most systematically revealing, crippling, subversive? The most musically adventurous? The most critically reviewed? The most socially impactful? Culturally impactful? Relatable/marketable? Least controversial? AOTY winners have been all of these things and more. It's quite a murky ordeal (and one that I don't put much faith in when it comes to the "board" or whatever ) I want DAMN. or Melodrama to win, and I will be happy for either of them, regardless of the potential media ****-storm that follows if Lorde wins. 私自身もこの世の中も誰もかれもが, どんなに華やかな人生でも, どんなに悲惨な人生でも, いつかは変貌し, 破壊され、消滅してしまう. すべてがもともとこの世に存在しない一瞬の幻想なのだから
Andrew2512 321
This album is boring tbh. Nothing can hide her atrocious live vocals even produced on a record.

Yes, I agree to everything you said. But again, it's a tough spot for Lorde to be in. And I feel bad that if one of the other noms win it's because the board thought they had to nominate more diverse(mainly black artists) into the mix. And it's a hard discussion to have because I don't want to say that it's suspicious that there's a bunch of people of color nominated. But with what happened the year few years at the Grammys along with the Board's decision to mix things up, I feel like my theory is somewhat correct.
