Also Iron Man really only had one good movie lol the first two Cap films are great imo and Avengers 1 was solid, 2...needed work but was not terrible. Didn’t see Antman but I hear that was good! Watch Antman and Doctor Strange. Also, Homecoming? It's odd to critique the MCU without watching them. Marvel films have always been humorous too. I think that with the success of Guardians they decided to make Thor a cross breed between that and the other Thors. And it clearly worked in regards to critic reviews and box office records. However, I wouldn't rush to claim that Marvel is trying to settle for comedy over the stakes of their heroes. Black Panther and IW are going to be pretty serious compared to Guardians/Thor overall. IMO it's better to have change ups so that the MCU doesn't become static. I'd rather have the new Thor over the tone of the previous two films. None are direct storylines from the film. Civil War arced throughout the whole Marvel line. If they were to do that, Captain America would be dead. Yeah I know, but to nerf it that much seems extreme to me. I mean, why do it if you can’t even give it the stakes such a story requires? It just didn’t feel earned to me. Tony and Cap being at odds wasn’t very tragic like in the comics because their friendship wasn’t *that* strong, Spider-Man’s inclusion was ham-fisted, and in the end the weight of what should have been a very intense storyline wasn’t really felt (to me). Okay, Rhodey gets paralyzed, but that’s it? And the humor throughout didn’t really help. It didn’t need to be dour, but it could have benefited from a bit more mature humor. This wasn’t a movie that suited childish levity imo and made the tone feel clunky. I think Winter Soldier did a much better job with tonal consistency while still injecting humor. I know they’ve always been humorous, but it feels like they’ve laid into it harder more recently. It’s fine if everyone else likes it, I’m glad. I’m not disputing its success, I just personally don’t find it to my taste. To me, the humor often doesn’t even feel tailored to a specific film, it’s just “Marvel humor” which makes the films less descript imo. I’m quite excited for BP! It looks great! Im excited to hear they’re changing things up going forward because it feels to me like there’s less and less motivation to see the movies because I can already fairly guess what I’m going to get out of their movies. That can be good or bad, but usually leans more towards “I’ll watch it when it’s released online” because I don’t want to spend $13 for an experience I’ve had before. For instance, I’ve seen the Thor trailers for what feels like a almost a year now and because of it I really am sick of seeing it. I’m sure it’s great, happy everyone likes it, but I feel no motivation to go see it on my limited budget. If I’m going to make the cost benefit analysis of spending my money on a movie ticket I’m thinking of what stands out to me and at this point Marvel’s films aren’t really doing it for me like they used to. They just kind of fade into the mass amount of films released because they all tend to feel the same to me after awhile. I’m always willing to give them a chance if they perk my interest, though! I hold no bias against them or anything (except for that Tilda Swinton looking vaguely like an Asian man but is definitely not an Asian man mess from Doctor Strange; that was a pretty shitty screw up). Every thirty seconds was a slow mo scene and that final act was pure over acting if I ever saw it. Over acting like every role Chris Pratt has ever done. There was plenty of slow no effects in Thor 3. Hela flash back scene slow mo, Thor Thunder scene slow mo. Executioner gun scene slow mo, Valkary walking in the white suit slow more and they don't even have a speedster in the movie. Im simply saying every other scene in WW felt like it was using slow motion, I didn’t find the story very engaging, and the third act fell flat for me. And agree to disagree with Chris Pratt, because I think he’s a decent actor. Never have I ever thought he was “over-acting”.

Lol, we seem to be the exact opposite with these films. Black Panther does not excite me at all, mostly because I don’t find the character or the environment interesting at all. However, I felt the same about Ant-Man and was pleasantly blow away.
