To tie this all to one single factor such as speaking out against Trump is way too simple and in all honesty is spurious. Maybe it has something to do with it but not mostly that. Eminem lead was just boring and obviously didn't connect and audience wasn't feeling it. 

Trump is sitting at a 33% approval rating, and a clear majority of Americans think he's making this country worse. So it couldn't be Trump supporters making him flop when most Americans already disapprove of him. Not to mention the recent elections around the US that have been an exploit and outright REJECTION of Trump and his brand of politics. 

It's simply the music, and every artist has highs and lows anyway.

Her US dates are extremly successful this is really surprising almost on legendary rock bands level

It makes a lot more sense when you consider the what the fanbase of certain artists consist of. Taylor would be SCREWED like Katy if she went as hard against Trump as she did, they share the same demographic (which is white women, a demopgraphic that has been pro-trump by the majority and not just plurality). Eminem's fall from commercial grace comes with the fact that his fanbase is almost 90% redneck straight white redditors/4chan people who like the "concept" and shelling of rap music, but don't like it when it is presented to them through a black person.

The problem with Katy & Eminem is that in the past both have been violently problematic without owning up to it so there's really no sympathy from the ideological left they're trying to reach out for which resulted in a massive loss of fans/interest without anything cushioning the fall.

The reason why Gaga, Cher, Beyoncé & Rihanna can go on and on about Trump being a dipsh*t for example is because their fanbase pretty much is in the same political spectrum as they are.

Like Eminem's bomb was inevitable, he alienated his fanbase, he collabed with one of the women his fanbase HATES the most, the song was a dud and Beyoncé's fanbase resented the song for being a dud and because they resent Eminem in general. It's like... the worst case scenario for him right now (which is also why he delayed the album onto an indefinite due date). They underestimated how many people Eminem pissed off.
