Rihanna :duck: in the EMPTI :selena: world tour

i don't know what happens with the demand :selena:

I know there was some kind of faux pas when she was playing at a festival near my parents town last year, cause she came an hour and a half late, skipped half the setlist and lip synced the whole performance that lasted for about 40 mins :duck: I love Rihanna, but

Damn, just 2 cities in the UK? Just shows that even her team aren't delusional enough to think she can perform stadium gigs in all the major cities. But as she's only doing 2 cities, 6 months is more than enough time to sell those tickets. If she adds more, though, she'll really struggle. But seriously, is a stadium date in Dublin for Taylor of all people really wise? Ireland is a largely working class nation with a lot of debt, if you want to be completely honest. So many artists don't bother touring there anymore and if they do, it's just one arena date at the absolute most. She might have already filled her utmost demand by doing just that last tour. Seriously, the few acts that can actually sell out a stadium in Ireland these days are U2 and Ed Sheeran. Maybe Beyonce, if she announced a date there. But everyone else, no way. Taylor's really going to have to have the luck of the Irish to sell out 82k tickets there. Even Gaga at her peak didn't have that demand and had to do the smaller Aviva Stadium. Madonna, with all her legendary status, had lower figures at the same stadium and Rihanna equally struggled recently there too. It just seems to be really hard to sell out a stadium date in Ireland when you're a female artist. It seems to be male acts that command the highest numbers.

So, yeah, all this looks like this is her schedule for the whole of Europe. I guess the plan is that those living closest to the UK and Ireland will simply travel there (France, Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal, specifically). Places like France and the Netherlands are actually closer to London than I am in Scotland. Seriously, I've travelled down to London for the BTWB, I know. So, it's not that big of stretch, really. But are Taylor's continental European fans dedicated enough (not to mention rich enough) to make the journey? Judging by the fact that no additional dates were added to her extremely short European leg last time, I'm guessing not. What I find funny is the length of time between each date, 7 days apart. Does the touring promoter seriously think there's going to be demand for second dates? Selling out one is going to be difficult enough. It's going to be interesting, that's for sure. And this all really begs the question of what her other international legs are going to look like. Popular as she is in Japan and China right now, I don't know if she's "selling out stadium" popular. It might just be Australia and NZ left to go at the rate this is going. Might just be a 40 date tour overall.

I know she has a huge American following but I'm totally clueless as to how big her foreign appeal is.

I hope she does well :flutter: usher in another pop queen domination age

She was unheard of in her debut era, Fearless only got any kind of recognition in Western Europe, Speak Now was a massive flop. Red was when she started to gain a bit of worldwide traction but still nothing much to speak of. 1989 turned her into a worldwide name but still not enough to ensure major touring demand. Reputation looks like it might have even less demand than 1989, especially as there's been no further hits generated from the album as of yet. I mean, you just have to look at her extreme lack of international tour dates with every album to see the disparity. Her so-called 1989 World Tour only visited 10 countries. The only international region she's truly had success in is Oceania. Recently, some areas of Asia started picking up on her more but she's really only a thing in Japan and China at the moment. I don't know if selling out 2 stadiums in Japan last time is a one-off or not. Selling 1 million copies of 1989 in the UK was a huge coup for her but I don't see her doing the same thing twice. We tend to grow out of female artists very fast after their peak. After 1989's success and her first ever UK #1 single with LWYMMD, I thought her debut numbers were going to be higher than 84k. I was shocked when I just looked at the new chart today to see that she fell to #8 in her second week, which is astonishing. I expected #2 or #3. It looks like she's built up some level of a fanbase but once they've bought the album, there's very little demand after that. That was with ads on tv all this week, as well. Even Tokio Myers, the Britain's Got Talent winner, debuted at #4 with his piano instrumental album this week.

Her fans always try to defend her lack of international appeal despite the fact that most of these people are living in America and haven't got any first hand knowledge of her impact or even how certain countries respond to international stars. Well over 80% of her sales have always come from English speaking countries. That tells you all you need to know.

OMG YES I got 2 emails this morning about her UK dates and I'm so excited  Gonna try the O2 presale on Wednesday and the Thursday LiveNation presale if the first attempt doesn't go well, and then the General Sale on Friday as a last resort :laughga: It'll be my first time seeing her live and I'm so glad it's a "proper" concert this time :woot:

Anyone know when the email will be sent to those who have boosts on the Verified Ticket Master?  I know tickets will go on sale from the 3rd-8th for those who entered the Verified Ticket Master.  I would prefer to buy mine on the 7th when I get paid.  Hope the Louisville doesn't sell out by then for the presale.

The good tix in the UK with no package are over £130 with booking fee. There's also a chance it could rain (well always here). I wouldn't pay that to see a dot far away squished in with thousands of people with umbrellas.

Its nice to aim big, but maybe her promoters are over thinking here. Before 1989 a lot of people had never heard of her. Good on her but I don't think a lot of parents will jump in buying their kids tickets that might be standing in the rain in a stadium.

I didn't actually know until now that you lived in the UK! I always thought you were American for some reason.

She might be able to sell out these 3 dates but with a 7 day gap between each one, that suggests that there's expected to be demand for follow ups which I don't see happening. About the idea that parents won't want to buy expensive stadium tickets for their kids - that's what I said about 1D's Where We Are world stadium tour. All 69 dates in North & South America and Europe completely sold out. 3.4 million attendees and $290 million. In comparison to Taylor's dates, they did gigs at the same 3 venues but here was how they did - sold out 3 gigs at Croke Park to over 235k ($20.1million), sold out 3 gigs at Etihad Stadium to over 158k ($12.9million) and sold out 3 gigs at Wembley Stadium to over 236k ($20 million). Plus additional sellouts in Sunderland and Edinburgh. I really ate my hat when it came to that tour. I was totally expecting those dates to flop because there's no way 1D's primarily kid/teen fanbase would have enough parents who would pay top dollar for their little ones to go to stadium shows (I know my mum wouldn't have allowed that when I was young). But I was totally wrong. It's a different world now. Back in the day, you didn't see a live pop show unless you were very lucky, no one expected it. Now kids going to see a live concert is a rite of passage, parents will happily spend that money for a once in a lifetime experience. Back in 2012, my little cousins aged 4 and 6, were given 1D tickets to their O2 concert in London as a Christmas present from their grandmother. That's the kind of presents adults think is acceptable for little kids now. A trip to big bad London to see an eardrum busting pop show in a big arena before they're barely out of nappies. The older generation are shocked. The younger generation think it's normal.

I didn't know 1D did stadiums in the UK, that's my ignorance. Id be terrified taking a little girl. Its not particularly the show or the seats but the crush to get out or if they need the toilet. Maybe I worry too much.

I bet they loved their 1D tix for xmas, what a thrill and memories to treasure. I know the Spice girls way back when did Wembley but put seats on the floor so there were no crushes. Maybe Taylor might do that or kids wont be able to see.

Failed at getting tickets at the O2 presale, the LiveNation presale, and now the general sale :flop::flop::flop:

All I wanted was a Front Snake Pit ticket but it was unavailable each time I tried, then I tried the VIP packages but those weren't available either. Had many chances to get the Gold/Silver/Bronze package but I didn't like the seats I kept getting offered because I wanted A4/A5/A6 or B3 but I kept getting seats outside of those :grr:

Gonna probably get a Front Snake Pit ticket from viagogo later on when prices stabilise, or something in A4/A5/A6/B3 :laughga: Definitely going to this though, can't miss it :excited2:
