In case you forgot, in August Justin Bieber dropped a song with Bloodpop called "Friends".

After a plethora of top 10 songs in the 2 years that predated "Friends", the song debuted lower than expected in the US at #20. The song hung around in the 30s on the chart for a handful of weeks before falling off the chart after just 10 weeks.

Justin didn't have to do very much promo for any of his lead singles or features that went Top 10 recently, but it seemed like "Friends" could have used this treatment. The song didn't get a music video or any performances.

"Friends" pretty much randomly came out of nowhere in August and and then seemed to have been aborted by Justin and his team.

This is the chart performance of the song:

Friends (2017)
1st Week: #20 - PEAK POSITION
2nd Week: #33
3rd Week: #35
4th Week: #34
5th Week: #35
6th Week: #36
7th Week: #54
8th Week: #73
9th Week: #88
10th Week: #94
(knocked out)

Eventually the pop world was going to get sick of this formula:

1) Soft-spoken verse with "relatable" lyrics about a romance gone wrong (a la chainsmokers)

2) Chorus where Bieber asks a vague question (Is it too late now to say sorry? Where RU Now When I need you? Can we still be friends?)

3) Tropical edm beat drops.

Repeat.

It still peaked higher than PI and TC and lasted longer on the charts.

edit: not higher than PI but lasted longer

Cause it's an average song. :poot:
