Hotel workers in Canada did not run out and learn the English language in order to understand Gaga during her room service order.

You are reaching so far I’m surprised your arms don’t hurt.

Gaga can speak and understand french though??? Like what even is this?

She picked it up DURING the show. Do you want her to leave the arena and translate it then come back?

Great idea! She could have had a translator by her side. Montreal has the second-largest number of international organizations after New York in North America, there are many simultaneous translators here. Yes, I would appreciate it that she could have taken a short break and let it translate it the meantime. To bridge the time, a Lady Gags song could have been played or Lady Gaga could give simply autograms, etc.

I'm looking gorgeous tonight

The English language per se is not evil, it becomes evil onces it comes in an imperial form and displaces other languages. Science, technology and pop culture all contribute to that. My liking of Lady Gaga contributes to this, too, and that's why it is so extremely important that the other side - the US-Americans and British artists - that they show respect for non-anglophone cultures that are being endangered by English. It's is nowdays impossible to get a job without knowing English in Montréal and downtown has become so heavily anglicized, that it is worrying. We make it convenient for Lady Gaga to come. Speakin English to her in Hotels. Serve her in English. She does not have to learn any other language. This is why we expect and demand a minimum respect for our very weak language, too. We make a favor to the English language...she could have reciprocated it. By not doing it, she makes it seem natural that everything can and has to be done in English

She spoke in french multiple times throughout the show how is she meant to have a translation for that flag ready when it was given to her by a fan mid-show :oprah:

Okay, you need to chill. It's one concert, and one American artist.

The flag contains the lyrics of CTM. If you're a Lady Gaga fan REGARDLESS OF THE LANGUAGE YOU SPEAK, you would know the song in English. A fan created it. Boohoo it wasn't translated in French. No one will understand what the reference is.

Quebec is in Canada, quit being a whiny baby. You guys use the Canadian flag, like it or not. If you want to live in a French place, move to France, or move outside of Montreal. Go to Quebec City, they speak more French than English there. I'm sick of French people complaining about useless stuff. You have your own laws for immigrations, banking, economy, and languages, you have your own police, and your culture is not weak despite what you believe.

Protest when something will actually hurt your culture like banning French or reducing funding in your French cultural festivals or whatever. Try to enjoy the concert, you killjoy.

As a French Canadian from New Brunswick, I can understand the struggle trying to maintain a language and culture that comes with it. However, these are Come To Mama lyrics and the idea of the flag was more about unity as a nation. Being offended that she did not use the Québec flag because she was in Québec pretty much goes against the message she was going for by holding the flag. Keep in mind that people from other provinces drove and flew to the show, so the audience was not only made up of Québequois.

Also, I'm from a French-speaking town and worked in tourism during the summer. If a tourist arrived and initiated a conversation in English, it would be pretty disrespectful of me to respond by saying that, by speaking to me in English, they are oppressing me and are being insensitive.

Furthermore, I was there yesterday and she spoke French throughout the show. She made that effort. So I think there's nothing to get offended over.

But they're lyrics to her song, which is in English... Just like all of her songs. That's why we should ban Lady Gaga from performing in Quebec again!!1! Disgusting, big-d*cked, cultural oppresser!1!!
