I didn't even know they started at book 3, I've never read the books.

Magicians nephew is number 1. And by far my favorite. It’s so damn trippy. A forest with hundreds of pools of water that lead to different worlds and that’s how they find the witch who was a statue. But they ring the bell and she comes alive following them back. And narnia is born in another pool. It’s worth reading. Especially if no one seems to want to make it a film.

Jackson wasn't the original director of the Hobbit, he was added on last minute. So the fault isnt 100% his.

They should leave the trilogy alone! It's only been like 15 years since FotR.

oh I know it was supposed to be Guillermo del Toro, he also wanted it to be two movies not a trilogy.

the faults I have with the Hobbit films are all to do with Jackson, he pushed for it to be a trilogy and pushed to use the new camera technology on it (which lets face it, it didn’t look that different and the CGI wasn’t great compared to the practical effects they had in the original trilogy).

and who says they’re wanting to remake the actual LoTR?  they could be looking at some of the books Christopher Tolkien has compiled or maybe doing their own thing like Shadow of Mordor has been, they just slap on LoTR to get views on the article and then series.

even if they did focus on the LoTR proper, a tv series would allow them to do it more justice.  I love the films but there’s a reason the Tolkiens hate them and it’s because they tweaked plots, didn’t include things etc (which imo made them better films but being a tv series they would have more time to explore these sub-plots).

tl;dr I adore the books and films and would like to see a tv series tackle them by remaining more faithful to the source material, if it just become a re-hash of the movie trilogy, we know which one will be better!

The First Narnia movie was and they just ruined it with the other movies so giving a fresh start to Narnia would be really great.

HBO should work on the Chronicles of Narnia considering how amazing GOT looks, it would be amazing

I can't help but feeling like this is a mistake... LOTR as a whole is probably my favorite movie of all time and it still feels very current to me, even though those movies are already 15+ years old (damn...). This adaptation is so iconic that it's still very alive in today's pop culture, so much that even the newer generations are pretty aware of it. Not to mention those films are still near perfect by today's standards - I mean they won't be able to do much better, really.

So yeah, I think it's really too soon and it won't necessarily bring anything more than what Peter Jackson's trilogy has delivered and still delivers to this day.

I think a TV series about Tolkien's extended work would be much much better, and would actually fit the TV series format perfectly - I mean, there is endless material at hand..... A new LOTR or a new Hobbit are the last thing we need.

One time my aunt and I binged watched all three extended editions plus all the special features in a row. It took us like a day and a half. :emma:

I had a tradition of binge-watching all 3 films around Christmas with my best friend when I was in high school, I miss that so much

This, minus the blood and sex :awkney:

The HP movies are good but very very flawed. Many characters aren't done justice (Ginny, Ron, Harry being sassy in the books but boring in the movies, Voldemort being a cold and calculating villain in the books and a screaming monster high on adrenaline in the movies), the magic isn't that magical (where are the duels using transfiguration and a billion coloured jets instead of sparks of light [you could barely tell if an Avada Kedavra was cast when it's supposed to be blinding]), the acting was sometimes over the top (DIDYAPUTYONAMEINTHEGOBLETOFFIYAH), a lot of things were cut (Percy's withdrawal from the family, Peeves the Poltergeist, the Death Day Party, and the freaking super important Voldemort memories in Half Blood Prince), and some casting was just not right (casting Harry's parents as middle aged when they were really in their young 20s when they died).

I could go on forever. I like the movies but a better adaptation can easily be made.

The movies looks like a bunch of small scenes from the books with old CGI and peeves, why the f-ck to cut the most fun character there?!

And the most annoying is to explain things to those who didn't read the books because suddenly something from a previous book and was not in the previous movie, showed up in the next one..

I hate the movies lol

HBO can do justice to the books, it can be like GOT but longer, like 1 book is 2 seasons or something because the max episode per season is 13 in HBO..
