"I discussed the fundraising agreement that each of the candidates had signed. Bernie was familiar with it, but he and his staff ignored it. They had their own way of raising money through small donations. I described how Hillary’s campaign had taken it another step.

I told Bernie I had found Hillary’s Joint Fundraising Agreement. I explained that the cancer was that she had exerted this control of the party long before she became its nominee. Had I known this, I never would have accepted the interim chair position, but here we were with only weeks before the election.

Bernie took this stoically. He did not yell or express outrage. Instead he asked me what I thought Hillary’s chances were. The polls were unanimous in her winning but what, he wanted to know, was my own assessment?

I urged Bernie to work as hard as he could to bring his supporters into the fold with Hillary, and to campaign with all the heart and hope he could muster. He might find some of her positions too centrist, and her coziness with the financial elites distasteful, but he knew and I knew that the alternative was a person who would put the very future of the country in peril. I knew he heard me. I knew he agreed with me, but I never in my life had felt so tiny and powerless as I did making that call.

When I hung up the call to Bernie, I started to cry, not out of guilt, but out of anger. We would go forward. We had to."

Wow. As it turns out, it was true. Hillary was funneling money from states down-ballot into her campaign before the convention, and essentially ruined democratic races down-ballot as well as stealing the nomination from Bernie. Then, Bernie, being the great person he was, got behind Clinton, knowing that he had been conned the entire time. 

Disgusting. DWS and Clinton are the reason we have Trump today, as well as many many little-trumps in states.

I feel sorry for Bernie. Even if I disagree with him on a lot of things, he deserved better than this. And I know he has it in his heart to want to help this country. He was put in a very difficult position. I don't think he should have been president, but he definitely deserved the chance he earned, the one that was taken from him by Hillary.

I don't even care that it was Bernie, democrats were robbed of their ability to have a grip on the party. How can democrats, like myself, feel enthusiastic about this kind of rigging?

The DNC was broke. Obama put them is so much debt and still hasn’t fundraised for them. Clinton saved the DNC, this was absolutely necessary. 

But instead of calling on Democrats to come knock doors in Virginia where there is the most important election for the next two years after Trump won in 5 days, I’m glad Brazile has taken this opportunity to divide us again.

I don't like Donna either, and I actually don't trust her side of this that she was "deeply troubled" but I do think her conscious got to her. I doubt this will effect the race in Virginia, it will probably be buried like Bernie was by the media.

Yup, this is just more anti-Hillary clickbait from the media that will inevitably be pushed by the far-right. Hillary's campaign saved the DNC's ass financially, without her help down-ballot Democrats would have had no money to run their campaigns. This deal was known and reported on back when it happened and the DNC gave Bernie his own deal too. Everything in this article was known and reported on when it happened.

Also a friendly reminder that the DNC has nothing to do with primary elections. Primary election rules and dates are set by each individual's state party. The DNC's main purpose is to fund raise and support Democratic candidates and as the article points out, they were pretty much bankrupt from the Obama years so it's not like they even had the resources to "rig" the primary for Hillary even if they wanted to.

It should be surprising because this deal was very public and completely reported on in 2015, plus Bernie got pretty much the same deal - he just raised funds in a different way.

The race in Virginia is getting extremely close and it's all going to come down to turn out. It's much closer than people realize, I'm working on that race now. 

It's not like this is going to help turnout.

She's a real mess and a toxic person for the Democratic party. We have the VA governor's race next week, the Alabama Special Election next month and the GOP is attempting to cut taxes for the rich by the end of the year and she's out here playing both sides of the 2016 Democratic primary fight in order to dredge up sales for a book that no one is interested in reading.
